In recent times, developing new tourism products and improving the quality of existing ones has continued to be identified as one of the key solutions that Huu Lung district is implementing to attract tourists.
Many tourism products in Huu Lung (Lang Son province) have been diversified and innovated, creating a positive effect and attracting the attention of tourists. Ms. Le Khanh Linh, a tourist from Bac Giang, said: "Through social media, I learned about the attractive agricultural tourism experience at the Xứ Lạng Agricultural Tourism Cooperative in Dong Tan commune, Huu Lung district. Here, I not only enjoyed the fresh air but also experienced gardening, picked strawberries, and enjoyed unique local cuisine."
Reportedly, the Xứ Lạng Agricultural Tourism Cooperative is a new tourist destination that started operating in 2022 in Đồng Tân commune. Mr. Nguyễn Minh Anh, Director of the Cooperative, said: With an area of over 3 hectares, the Cooperative has invested more than 1 billion VND to build a fishing pond; construct a system of 4 greenhouses for growing black grapes, strawberries, and various types of melons to serve the experiential needs of tourists. To create beautiful scenery to attract visitors, the Cooperative has also built concrete roads connecting the viewing areas within the premises; invested in additional miniature landscapes reflecting the regional identity for tourists to admire and take souvenir photos. In addition, the Cooperative has also built stilt houses to serve the resting needs of tourists...
Besides the Lang Son Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, Dong Tan commune also has the Dong Tan Agricultural Products Cooperative, offering attractive experiential services. Each month, these cooperatives in the commune attract between 500 and 1,000 visitors for tours and experiences.
Agricultural ecotourism in Dong Tan commune is just one of many tourism products that Huu Lung district has encouraged to develop in recent years. In particular, ecotourism is being expanded and developed in communes such as Cai Kinh, Hoa Lac, Yen Son, and Yen Thinh... Besides agricultural ecotourism, the district also encourages people and businesses to develop cultural tourism and resort tourism.
Mr. Khong Hong Minh, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Huu Lung District, said: "In the past period, the department has advised the District People's Committee to direct the implementation of promotion and investment attraction for tourism development. At the same time, we have coordinated with specialized units to survey, build, and develop new tourism products and improve the quality of strong tourism products in the area; form tourism tours and routes; and invest in infrastructure development at tourist destinations..."
Accordingly, from 2022 to the present, the District People's Committee has provided funding to develop the traditional herbal bath model of the Dao people in Huu Lien commune; and organized a training course on traditional performing arts for 45 trainees who are tourism workers in Huu Lien and Yen Thinh communes. Through this, two traditional performing arts teams were established in two community tourism villages, and these two teams are currently maintaining good performance activities to serve tourists.
At the same time, the district has introduced households with the potential to develop into tourist destinations to travel companies and tourism businesses to create linked tour packages.
Alongside the development of new products, the district is also focusing on investing in, upgrading, and promoting already recognized tourist destinations. Notable examples include the accelerated process of building the application for recognition of Huu Lien Community Tourism Village as meeting ASEAN standards, and developing Nong Dung Lake into a provincial-level tourist destination. The district also regularly organizes training courses on civilized tourism conduct and other tourism-related skills to enhance the quality of tourism products.
In particular, on October 25th and 26th, Huu Lung district will organize the Dong Lam grassland festival. The festival will be held in Dong Lam, Nong Dung Lake, Huu Lien commune. The aim is to promote and introduce the tourism potential and advantages, as well as the investment attraction policies of Lang Son province in general and Huu Lung district in particular.
Thanks to practical solutions, the number of tourists visiting Huu Lung has been increasing year by year. In 2023, the number of tourists reached 680,000 (a 33% increase compared to 2022); in the first nine months of 2024, the entire district attracted 777,000 tourists (an increase of more than 30% compared to the same period in 2023), with estimated tourism revenue of 234 billion VND.
With efforts to innovate and diversify tourism products, as well as to improve tourism promotion and marketing, it is believed that Huu Lung is gradually becoming an attractive destination for tourists.
