Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics reorganizes its organizational structure and operations on the basis of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics in accordance with the provisions of the Law on HigherEducation 2012 and the Law on Amendments and Supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education 2018 and relevant legal provisions; the reorganization process must ensure normal operations, without causing loss or waste of finance and assets.

The University Council, the Chairman of the University Council, and the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics continue to perform their functions, duties, and powers according to current regulations until the Minister of Education and Training decides to establish the University Council, recognize the Chairman of the University Council, and recognize the Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics was established in 1976, with a scale of 36,000 students in 38 undergraduate majors, 19 master's majors and 14 doctoral majors.
