Changes in the revolutionary homeland of Binh Tan

Việt NamViệt Nam28/03/2025

During the resistance war, Binh Tan commune was one of the revolutionary base areas of Tay Son district. The victory at Thuan Ninh in 1965 was not only the first victory against the Americans by the army and people of Tay Son district, but also a victory for the army and people of Binh Dinh province in defeating the American airborne landing operation on the Binh Dinh battlefield. This victory significantly contributed to the success of the resistance war against American imperialism, leading to the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country in 1975.

Building on the revolutionary traditions of their homeland, for the past 50 years, the Party Committee, government, and people of Binh Tan have united to overcome all difficulties and challenges to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.

A highlight in the socio-economic development of Binh Tan commune in recent years has been the development of industrial and handicraft production. To date, the commune has 12 enterprises and 6 production and business establishments. A prime example is Ha My One-Member Limited Company, operating in the production and livestock sector. Currently, the company is raising 300,000 laying hens using a modern, closed-loop automated farming system, ensuring disease safety.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quy, Manager of Ha My One-Member Limited Company, said that the company has received a lot of attention and assistance from Binh Tan commune, Tay Son district in carrying out administrative procedures and land clearance, and has received support from local people in its production and business activities. On average, the company produces 7.5 million eggs per month, generating revenue of about 10 billion VND, creating stable jobs for 50 local workers with an average income of 8-9 million VND per person per month.

Mr. Ho Sy Lai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Tan commune, said that with the local advantage of having a large area of forest land, in recent years, local people have focused on planting forests in the direction of planting large timber trees and developing FSC-certified forests, thereby increasing the value of forestry production in the area. Livestock and poultry in the commune are increasing in number, with the percentage of hybrid cattle exceeding 95% and hybrid pigs exceeding 100%. Along with the investment in building a widespread irrigation system, the commune has encouraged people to boldly convert a large portion of low-yield cassava fields to peanut and other dryland crops, achieving better economic results.

In the past five years alone (2020-2025), the average growth rate of key production sectors in Binh Tan reached 12.84%, an increase of 0.84% compared to the target set by the Party Congress Resolution of the commune. The economic structure has shifted towards gradually increasing the proportion of industrial, handicraft, and service sectors while decreasing the proportion of agriculture and forestry; people's living standards have improved, with average per capita income reaching 65.4 million VND/year, the poverty rate in the entire commune decreasing by 2.5%/year, and the commune achieving the new rural standard in 2021.
