The Vietnamese team officially gathered on November 11 and had their first training sessions during FIFA Days, preparing for the rematch against Laos in the fifth match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

This time, coach Kim Sang-sik's team welcomes the return of naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son. The Brazilian-born player, born in 1997, has fully recovered after a long time off to treat an injury. Xuan Son's presence will also help improve the attacking efficiency of the Vietnamese team in the coming time.

After nearly a year of absence due to injury, striker Nguyen Xuan Son has made the national team's training atmosphere more exciting and lively. Son's appearance not only helps his teammates and the national team's coaching staff relieve the pressure of scoring goals, but also makes the fans at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ) more excited.

"I would like to send my sincere thanks to the coaching staff, teammates and fans for always supporting me. I have fully recovered and am ready to compete at the highest intensity, dedicating myself to the national team" - Xuan Son shared.

However, many opinions also said that the coaching staff of the Vietnamese team did not need to risk using Xuan Son in the match against the Lao team to avoid the situation that caused him to have a relapse of his injury. In fact, Xuan Son still maintained full training, "swallowing" the entire training plan of the Nam Dinh club's coaching staff in the recent past but still has not had an official match after recovering. Regaining form and feeling of competition for a player who suffered a serious injury like Xuan Son needs to start from the domestic tournament, instead of the national team.

Previously, the Vietnamese team performed unimpressively in the two wins over Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. Although they achieved the target of winning maximum points against opponents considered weaker, the Vietnamese strikers did not complete their mission, missing many scoring opportunities. The reason stemmed from poor preparation, causing the group of key players to not achieve the best physical and mental condition after playing for their home clubs.

Mr. Kim believes that the home team has many good finishing situations but still needs more luck to lead to goals. "We are focusing on improving the ability to take advantage of scoring opportunities and handling and deploying the ball to attack the opponent's field. The coaching staff will continue to find ways to help the players finish more effectively, at the same time considering adding factors to the necessary positions" - said the Korean strategist.

"In Group F, the Vietnamese team has 9 points, ranking second after Malaysia. Coach Kim Sang-sik's team will have 4 days of training in Viet Tri before playing the second leg against the Laos team, taking place on November 19.
