Episode 14 of Buried Hearts opens with Il-do's death, despite Dong-ju's efforts to save him. At the funeral, Dong-ju dismisses Yeom Jang-seon and faces more family drama and conspiracy. Deok-hui worries about the Daesan shares Dong-ju might claim, while Dong-ju goes to see Chairman Cha, warning him to stop plotting against him or Seon-u will lose his position at Daesan. Dong-ju also successfully convinces Seon-u to change, refusing to study in favor of studying business, even calling Chairman Cha "father". Back at the funeral, a flashback reveals Il-do's wish to have his ashes scattered at the sea, where Dong-ju saved him, and hopes to hear Dong-ju call him "father". Dong-ju takes Il-do's ashes home, leaving Chairman Cha angry at being outwitted.

The story gets more dramatic when Jang-seon is linked to Dong-ju's accident, receiving a warning from The Elder. At Daesan, Chairman Cha discovers that Dong-ju's code is fake, making him even more furious. Meanwhile, Dong-ju teams up with journalist Ma Jae-yeol to investigate the Dandelion files related to Jang-seon. Jang-seon tries to eliminate Dong-ju by bribing Sang-cheol, but his plan is thwarted when Gu-ho's group breaks into Tae-geum's musical instrument store, taking the files but missing the original. Finally, on the rooftop of a building, Dong-ju delivers the Dandelion tape to Jang-seon, but it's a trap. Thanks to Tae-geum's drone and a camera hidden in a watch, the footage of Jang-seon admitting to killing Dong-ju's sister is shown on the big screen, becoming a shocking news, ending episode 14 with suspense.
