According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Lam Dong currently leads the country in macadamia nut cultivation area with 11,317 hectares, producing nearly 1,969 tons per year (statistics up to the end of 2025).
Thanks to favorable climatic and soil conditions, macadamia trees have proven to be one of the high- value crops, contributing to the diversification of the agricultural structure and creating stable livelihoods for the people.
On the market, many macadamia-based products have been developed, such as dried nuts, kernels, vegetable oil, and other processed products.

However, the actual development of this industry still reveals many limitations. Production remains small-scale, lacking close links between farmers and businesses; processing capacity does not meet requirements; and product quality is inconsistent. These are considered major bottlenecks that need to be addressed if we want to enhance competitiveness in the context of increasingly deep integration.

At the workshop, many opinions suggested that, for the sustainable development of the macadamia industry, a more synchronized, in-depth, and substantive participation from the "three stakeholders"—the state, businesses, and farmers—is needed. In this model, the state plays the role of creating mechanisms, providing direction, and offering support; businesses lead the market, investing in processing and consumption; and farmers are the direct organizers of production.

In addition, delegates also emphasized the importance of focusing on seed quality, applying standardized farming practices, and investing in post-harvest technology to improve product quality.
Concluding the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Vu Dinh Cuong affirmed: The fact that the locality has been granted a trademark registration certificate for "Lam Dong Macadamia" by the Intellectual Property Office - Ministry of Science and Technology is of paramount importance to the local macadamia industry.
This is not only a legal basis for protecting the reputation, prestige, and origin of products, but also an important tool for enhancing competitiveness, increasing product value, building consumer trust, and expanding the domestic market, aiming for export.

At the same time, the certification mark also creates a foundation for reorganizing production towards a modern and synchronized approach, promoting value chain linkages from production, harvesting, processing to consumption; strengthening quality control and traceability, and gradually building a strong brand for macadamia products of Lam Dong province.
In the coming period, to maximize the protection of macadamia nuts, the agricultural sector will focus on perfecting the management and exploitation system of the "Lam Dong Macadamia" certification mark, including: developing regulations on usage, quality control, and traceability.

Simultaneously, the locality will review and orient the development of cultivation areas suitable to ecological conditions, linked with the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards sustainability. In addition, trade promotion and product advertising activities will be strengthened through trade fairs, exhibitions and e-commerce channels.
Lam Dong's agricultural sector also encourages businesses to invest in deep processing, develop production-processing-consumption linkages, and strengthen the application of science and technology to improve productivity, quality, and added value for macadamia products.
