On the morning of January 18th, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thanh Hoa City held its 18th Congress of Delegates for the 2024-2029 term. Attending the congress were Comrade Le Anh Xuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Hoa City; representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; and 133 official delegates.

In implementing Resolution No. 1238/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period, and the coordinated action program of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa City and Dong Son District at the beginning of the 2024-2029 term, the Fatherland Front Committees and member organizations of the two localities have comprehensively implemented front work tasks, achieving many positive results.
The two units focused on studying, disseminating, and implementing the Resolutions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress at all levels for the 2024-2029 term, the directives and conclusions of the Politburo on "Promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style," and practical and effective programs and projects.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front proactively gathers opinions and suggestions from the people to reflect them to Party and State agencies, the National Assembly, and People's Councils at all levels, resulting in increasingly higher quality responses.

The monitoring and social critique activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other mass organizations have shown significant progress. Social welfare work, providing support for the poor during Tet (Lunar New Year), and relief efforts to assist those affected by Typhoon Yagi were carried out promptly. The implementation of the campaign to support the construction of housing for poor households, policy beneficiary households, and households facing housing difficulties, as per Directive 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, has been effective. Coordination between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Party committees, the People's Council, the People's Committee, and member organizations has become increasingly close and effective.
From January 1st, 2025, Dong Son district officially merged into Thanh Hoa City. Building upon and perfecting the action program of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa City and Dong Son district, with the theme "Unity - Democracy - Innovation - Development," the congress set forth 10 main targets and 6 action programs with key objectives, tasks, and specific solutions to build a stronger Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa City, making a positive contribution to the overall development of the city.

In their discussions at the congress, delegates focused on analyzing, evaluating, and clarifying the achievements made, while also pointing out existing limitations in the implementation of tasks and proposing major, key solutions to successfully achieve the goals and tasks set for the 2024-2029 term.

Delivering a keynote address at the congress, Comrade Le Anh Xuan, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council of Thanh Hoa, emphasized: The 18th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thanh Hoa City, for the term 2024-2029, is an important event, marking the journey of building and maturing of the Fatherland Front of the city after Dong Son district was merged into Thanh Hoa City.
To successfully achieve the goals and tasks set forth in the new development phase, the Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council of Thanh Hoa requested the City Fatherland Front to continue to seriously and effectively implement Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on continuing to innovate and improve the quality of activities of the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations. They should coordinate with other organizations to further improve political and ideological education, cultural traditions, and revolutionary history to foster the spirit of unity among all strata of the people in carrying out the local political tasks.
Actively grasp the ideological situation and living conditions of the people to advise the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee on timely resolution of emerging issues at the grassroots level. Effectively implement social supervision and criticism according to Decision No. 217-QĐ/TW and Decision No. 218-QĐ/TW of the Politburo, focusing on supervising the implementation of grassroots democracy regulations, citizen reception and handling of complaints and denunciations, especially prominent, pressing, and long-standing cases.
In addition, it is necessary to effectively fulfill the core role of advising on and extensively implementing patriotic emulation campaigns and movements, focusing on the second phase of the campaign to support housing construction according to Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, the campaign "City residents speak kind words, do good deeds, and act in a friendly manner", the program for building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas... ensuring substance and effectiveness.
The Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council of Thanh Hoa requested the City's Fatherland Front to strongly innovate the content and methods of its activities, expand and diversify forms of gathering and uniting the people, and strongly focus its activities on the grassroots level. Along with reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of existing models, new models should be developed, ensuring that during the 2024-2029 term, each unit of the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations in the city will have at least one new model implemented.
The City's Fatherland Front needs to effectively fulfill its role in presiding over consultations, coordinating, and unifying the actions of its member organizations. It should actively participate in contributing opinions to the building of the Party and the government, creating social consensus in the implementation of political tasks.

In a spirit of democracy, unity, and high consensus, the Congress democratically elected 100 members to the City Fatherland Front Committee, ensuring the number, composition, and structure comply with regulations.
The newly elected Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front Committee has been introduced and assumed its duties.
At its first meeting, the Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front Committee for the 2024-2029 term democratically elected a Standing Committee of five members. Comrade Nguyen Hong Quang, a member of the City Party Committee's Standing Committee, was elected Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front Committee.
