Complete and heartfelt affection
The rain in Da Nang had not yet stopped, but from the 351st Radar Regiment, the vehicle carrying the working group led by Colonel Nguyen Huu Hung, Political Commissar of the Regiment, began its special mission: Authorized by the Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Command and the Party Committee and Command of the 3rd Naval Region, they traveled up the mountain pass, carrying hundreds of gift packages to share love and deliver them directly to the people of Hue city severely affected by the floods.
In Phong Dinh, Phong Quang, and Phong Dien wards, while walking to visit, encourage, and give gifts to families who had lost loved ones and suffered heavy property damage, even the flooded rice fields and muddy roads could not slow their steps. “The danger of the devastating flood has passed, but the losses and suffering of the people remain. Soldiers in general, and naval soldiers in particular, are ready to share the burden with our compatriots – our beloved home front,” Colonel Nguyen Huu Hung expressed.
During the devastating flood in Ru Hop residential area, Phong Dinh ward, Mr. PBX (70 years old), a veteran, unfortunately met with tragedy. The haggard face of Mrs. Tran Thi Nguyet, the wife who just lost her husband, was etched with sorrow and emotion at the kindness of the naval soldiers she had never met, yet who felt as close as family. They rolled up their sleeves to help the family with some of the funeral arrangements. Colonel Nguyen Huu Hung shared: "Mr. X. was also a naval soldier before, belonging to the older generation. They dedicated their full military-civilian solidarity and camaraderie to the family and the deceased."

When the task force of the 351st Radar Regiment, 3rd Naval Region, departed from Da Nang city to assist flood victims in Hue city, the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 3511 (belonging to the 351st Radar Regiment, stationed in Phong Quang ward, Hue city) also received orders to mobilize forces and equipment to help the local authorities and people of Phong Dinh, Phong Quang, Phong Dien... overcome the consequences of the floodwaters as soon as they receded.
These days, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Thach, Political Officer of Radar Station 3511, is leading the unit's officers and soldiers, working tirelessly at schools, alongside teachers and various organizations, to clean up hundreds of cubic meters of mud, debris, and waste; and to sanitize hundreds of desks, chairs, and teaching equipment so that students can return to class as soon as possible. In Phong Phu ward, soldiers from Radar Regiment 351, Region 3 of the Navy, are coordinating the cleaning and rearranging of belongings for Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Guong, with the affection and responsibility of children, replacing the sacrifice of her son who died for the Fatherland.
Joining forces with the local community.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Lanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phong Dien Ward, said emotionally: "In this time of overwhelming difficulties, as soon as the floodwaters receded, the naval soldiers were present, standing shoulder to shoulder with the local authorities and people. Amidst the chaotic mud and debris, the soldiers worked together patiently, scooping up buckets of mud, re-erecting signboards, cleaning tables and chairs...; coordinating with the government and charitable organizations to promptly deliver urgent and essential gifts to the people after the flood. This is the image of the beloved, close-knit 'Uncle Ho's soldiers,' serving the people, earning the trust and affection of the people."
That trust and affection has been built upon the enduring support of our comrades. In 2023 and 2025, the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 3511, Radar Regiment 351, were among the core forces that promptly extinguished fires in Phong Quang ward, helping the people preserve 6 hectares of production forest; successfully extinguishing fires, creating firebreaks, and protecting 140 hectares of protection forest.
People will always remember the image of the naval soldiers from Radar Station 3511, Radar Regiment 351, Region 3 of the Navy, who promptly rescued four fishermen (from Hai Dong residential area, Phong Hai ward) from Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung's fishing boat, bringing them safely ashore after the boat capsized at sea. Similarly, when Mr. Mai Van Truyen's fishing boat (from Hai Dong residential area, Phong Quang ward) sank, the soldiers successfully rescued him, contributing to the safety of his property and life. Many fishermen from Hue City, while out at sea, have also been rescued by the naval soldiers of Region 3.
“Helping the people, especially in times of hardship and natural disasters, is a duty and a command from the heart of a soldier. Every gift, every practical action given to the people of Hue city, as well as the people of Central Vietnam after today's floods, contains the heartfelt feelings, responsibility, and love of naval officers and soldiers sent to the home front,” Colonel Nguyen Huu Hung shared.
