Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, President of the Women's Union of O Mon Ward (far left), visits and inquires about the business activities of female members who received loan support from the Union.

The garment processing cooperative model, established through the efforts of the Women's Union of the ward, is proving effective. According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, President of the Women's Union of the ward, the cooperative currently has 22 members, with an average income of 5 million VND per person per month. Ms. Dang Thi Hong Nhiem, a member of the cooperative, shared: "Before, I was a stay-at-home mom who took care of the children and their schooling. Our family's livelihood depended on my husband's factory worker salary. The Women's Union officials encouraged, facilitated, and guided me in garment processing skills. Now, my average monthly income is about 5 million VND."

According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, President of the Women's Union of O Mon Ward, the ward's Women's Union currently has 7 effective collective economic development models with 113 members, earning an income of 5-6 million VND per person per month. Typical examples include the "Women's Small-Scale Trading Group," the "Women's Mobile Cooking Group," and the "Garment Processing Cooperative." At the same time, the Union strengthens coordination with relevant agencies to support members and women in accessing loan capital. The entire ward has 52 loan groups from the Social Policy Bank, with 2,423 households borrowing a total of over 112 billion VND; effectively maintaining capital pooling groups to support women with interest-free loans for production, livestock farming, small-scale trading, and garden improvement. The Union also coordinates training, counseling, and job placement for 200 women, and helps 150 women find employment.

Simultaneously, the Women's Union of O Mon ward focused on implementing many practical support solutions through Project 939 "Supporting women's entrepreneurship in the period 2017-2025". Ms. Duong Thi Bich Phuong from Area 12, O Mon ward, said: "Previously, my husband and I opened a stone bench production facility, but due to limited capital and mainly relying on the two of us doing the work ourselves, we produced in small quantities and earned meager income. The Women's Union of the ward supported me in applying for a loan to expand my stone bench production facility. Currently, my facility achieves a stable profit of over 20 million VND per month. It also provides employment for 4 workers, with salaries ranging from 4-6 million VND per person per month."

Similarly, thanks to the support of the Association, the family of Ms. Mai Ngoc Trinh in Hoa An area, O Mon ward, has been able to develop their economy and take care of their children's education. Ms. Trinh happily shared: "The Association helped me with the loan application, transforming my production model from rice farming to growing red-fleshed jackfruit and opening a breakfast shop at home. Since then, I have been able to take care of my family's finances and support my children's university education. Currently, my family's finances are stable, and this year the jackfruit orchard has just started bearing fruit."

Along with supporting economic development, the Women's Union of the ward pays attention to helping members and their children in difficult circumstances. In nearly 7 months of 2025, the Union mobilized and distributed over 900 gifts to members in difficult circumstances during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), with a total value of over 220 million VND; mobilized 75 gifts, worth 113 million VND, to support the children of members who were selected for military service. The Women's Union of the ward coordinated and mobilized support to build one "Great Solidarity" house for a female member from a poor household facing housing difficulties.

Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, President of the Women's Union of O Mon Ward, informed: "Thanks to the effectiveness of various models and forms of support, the material and spiritual lives of our members are increasingly improving. Currently, after a review, O Mon Ward still has 6 female members classified as poor households. In the remaining months of the year, the Women's Union of O Mon Ward will continue to improve and expand models to support members in economic activities, job creation, and business startups... striving to help 4 more women escape poverty by the end of 2025."
