The Sewing Cooperative Group (THT) model, which was established by the Ward Women's Union, is proving effective. According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, Chairwoman of the Ward Women's Union, the THT currently has 22 members, with an average income of 5 million VND/person/month. Ms. Dang Thi Hong Nhiem, a member of the group, said: "Previously, I was a housewife and took my children to school. My family's life depended on my husband's salary as a worker. The union officials encouraged, created conditions and provided me with vocational guidance to participate in sewing. Currently, my average monthly income is about 5 million VND."
According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of O Mon Ward, the Women's Union of the ward currently has 7 effective collective economic development models, with 113 members, income reaching 5-6 million VND/person/month. Typical models include "Women's small trading group", "Women's mobile cooking group", "Sewing processing group"... At the same time, the Union strengthens coordination with functional sectors to support members and women in accessing loan capital. The whole ward has 52 groups borrowing capital from the Social Policy Bank, with 2,423 households borrowing, total capital of over 112 billion VND; effectively maintaining capital contribution groups to support women in borrowing interest-free capital for production, livestock farming, small trading, and garden renovation. The Union coordinates training, job placement consultation for 200 women, and creates jobs for 150 women.
At the same time, the Ward Women's Union focused on implementing many practical support solutions through Project 939 "Supporting women to start a business in the period of 2017-2025". Ms. Duong Thi Bich Phuong in Area 12, O Mon Ward, said: "Previously, my husband and I opened a stone bench production facility, but due to limited capital and mainly the two of us working ourselves, we produced in small quantities and had low income. The Ward Women's Union supported me in applying for a loan to expand the stone bench production facility. Currently, my facility has a stable profit of more than 20 million VND/month. The facility also creates jobs for 4 workers, with a salary of 4-6 million VND/person/month".
Similarly, thanks to the support of the Association, Ms. Mai Ngoc Trinh's family in Hoa An area, O Mon ward, has the conditions to develop the economy and take care of their children's education. Ms. Trinh happily shared: "The Association supported me in applying for a loan, converting my production model from farming to growing red-fleshed jackfruit and opening a breakfast shop at home. Since then, I have had the conditions to take care of the family economy and send my children to university. Currently, the family economy is stable, this year the jackfruit garden has just produced fruit."
Along with supporting economic development, the Ward Women's Union is interested in helping members and their children in difficult circumstances. In nearly 7 months of 2025, the Union mobilized to give over 900 gifts to members in difficult circumstances on holidays and Tet, with a total value of over 220 million VND; mobilized 75 gifts, worth 113 million VND, to support members' children who passed the military service exam. The Ward Women's Union coordinated to mobilize support to build a Great Unity house for female members who are poor households and have difficulty in housing.
Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, President of the Women's Union of O Mon Ward, informed: "From the effectiveness of the models and forms of support, the material and spiritual life of members has been increasingly improved and enhanced. Currently, through review, O Mon Ward still has 6 female members who are poor households. In the last months of the year, the Women's Union of the ward continues to improve and expand the model of supporting members in economic activities, job creation, business start-up... striving to help 4 women escape poverty by the end of 2025".
