Job opportunities are increasing, and businesses are opening their doors to hiring.
This is a positive sign in the context of the economy continuing its recovery and expansion of production and business activities from the early months of the year. Several sectors are projected to see a strong increase in recruitment demand. Notably, the food processing industry is expected to increase by 3.1%; transportation equipment manufacturing by 2.6%; other transportation equipment manufacturing by 2.6%; and motor vehicle manufacturing by 1.6%. These figures show that the manufacturing and processing sector continues to play a leading role in creating new jobs, especially in sectors linked to exports and global supply chains. Conversely, some sectors are showing a trend of job losses, such as tobacco production; chemical and chemical product manufacturing; and machinery and equipment repair, maintenance, and installation.
According to the Ministry of Interior 's report on the Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of the Horse), during the period leading up to Tet, there is a trend of short-term labor migration, with a segment of unskilled laborers, students, and seasonal workers shifting to temporary service jobs to increase their income. In addition, some workers tend to quit their jobs early or temporarily withdraw from the market to return home for Tet.
Labor shortages after the Lunar New Year are a cyclical phenomenon. To address this, the Ministry of Interior has proactively monitored and assessed the labor situation before and after the 2026 Lunar New Year, the situation of businesses, agencies, and organizations working throughout the holiday in localities; directed localities to strengthen the connection between labor supply and demand to ensure there is no labor shortage for production and business activities in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year; monitored and supported localities in rearranging and reorganizing employment service centers; the issuance, re-issuance, extension, and revocation of licenses for employment service businesses; and monitored and compiled the results of the activities of employment service organizations.
The Ministry also urged localities and businesses to effectively implement policies on wages and bonuses for workers in enterprises, especially in industrial parks and export processing zones. Therefore, it is predicted that in industrial parks and export processing zones in localities such as Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, etc., the return rate of workers after the Tet holiday will reach 85% from February 23-25 and 95% by the last week of February 2026. The number of workers changing jobs is not expected to be high because businesses have already focused on policies to attract and support their employees before Tet.
The Ministry has proactively monitored and assessed the situation, strengthening the organization of labor supply and demand connections to ensure there is no labor shortage for production and business activities.
