Over the years, the "Supporting Students During Exams" program has demonstrated coordinated efforts between youth organizations and relevant agencies, attracting a large number of youth union members, students, and social forces to participate, ensuring efficiency, practicality, and safety. Continuing these achievements, the 2023 "Supporting Students During Exams" program, running from April to October 2023, is expected to attract nearly 1,500 youth union members and young people to participate in activities, ready to support candidates and their families during the exams. To ensure the program's effectiveness, the Provincial Youth Union has directed district and city youth unions and affiliated youth organizations to organize many diverse and practical activities such as: deploying "Digital Volunteer Teams - Supporting Students During Exams"; answering questions related to exam information for candidates; and receiving and compiling information on disadvantaged candidates needing support. The Provincial Youth Union proactively reviewed and developed support plans for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, orphans, disabled students, those from impoverished families, and those from near-poor households. In addition, the Provincial Youth Union implemented psychological counseling and moral support activities for candidates before the exam, such as organizing talk shows, online and in-person seminars, and providing direct psychological counseling for those in need. They also distributed publications titled "Moral Support" to boost positive energy, confidence, and optimism for the exam. They proactively organized training in knowledge and skills for volunteer teams, ensuring the number of volunteer teams matched the support needs. Furthermore, they coordinated with local health facilities to review and gather information on the situation of candidates in the locality and developed proactive plans to handle any unusual weather events, accidents, or health issues affecting candidates. Proactive measures were implemented to prevent and control potential outbreaks of infectious diseases at examination sites, such as: providing hand sanitizer before examination rooms, providing free face masks to candidates and their family members upon arrival at the examination area; organizing volunteer teams to guide and manage traffic flow to ensure safety at high-traffic examination sites; providing free drinking water, pens, and cold towels; advising on finding affordable accommodation and cheap restaurants… During the 2023-2024 high school entrance examination, the Youth Union at all levels established 57 teams with 1,140 volunteers from district and city Youth Unions and Youth Unions of universities and colleges who were stationed at examination sites and traffic points… to support candidates by: providing information about the program, answering questions; assisting in responding to emergencies; guiding and showing examination room layouts; Volunteer motorbike teams were established to assist in transporting candidates to exam locations; distributing free supplies, school supplies, and snacks; and looking after candidates' luggage and personal belongings. Through this program, 23,385 candidates were supported, with donations of 4,000 paper fans, 2,000 face masks, 15,000 bottles of water, 1,350 pens, and free food... totaling nearly 150 million VND. The help from these young volunteers played a crucial role in the success of the exam.
On June 28th and 29th, along with candidates nationwide, 12th-grade students throughout Nam Dinh province will take the 2023 High School Graduation Examination. According to information from the Steering Committee for the 2023 High School Graduation Examination in Nam Dinh province, the examination board is divided into 35 examination centers across 10 districts and cities, with 871 examination rooms. To ensure the effective organization of the exam support program, the Provincial Youth Union has directed district and city Youth Unions to coordinate with the Youth Unions of schools, communes, wards, and towns to establish 87 exam support teams with the participation of nearly 1,500 volunteers at 35 examination centers. With the motto of effectiveness, practicality, and safety, volunteers provide support items for candidates and their families such as drinking water, study materials for the exam, etc.; guide and manage traffic flow, ensuring traffic safety in the examination areas and areas with high traffic density around the examination centers; and guide candidates and their families to park their vehicles in designated areas. Handling unusual weather conditions, accidents, and health issues at exam sites... Mr. Vu Manh Linh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Thong Nhat Ward (Nam Dinh City), who has participated in the program for 8 years, said: “I, like many other young volunteers, am very happy to participate in supporting the 10th grade high school entrance exam and the 2023 high school graduation exam. Volunteers assigned to tasks are fully informed about the knowledge and skills required for specific volunteer activities during the exam season. On the exam days, volunteers are present at the exam sites very early, everyone wanting to contribute their efforts to help the candidates. Hopefully, through these support activities, the candidates will remain calm and confident in their exams to achieve the best possible results.”
With the active participation of volunteers in blue shirts in the "Supporting Students During Exams" program, positive impressions were left. Through this program, the spirit of initiative, volunteerism, mutual support, and a sense of responsibility towards the community among young people in the province were further promoted.
