Many practical startup ideas help members promote their strengths, develop their family economy , and create jobs for other members. One of the outstanding products is the Moc so loofah project of Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Thu (Thanh Khe Tay ward), which won first prize in the "Thanh Khe District Startup Ideas 2024" contest. The project's products come from the idea of utilizing raw materials from loofah to produce products that serve life and are environmentally friendly such as slippers, soap bags, dishwashing sponges, bath sponges, back scrubbers, back scrubbers, makeup remover cotton, pet toys, etc. To have a finished product, it must go through many stages, the loofah is cleaned, molded, and sewn into each product.
In addition, Ms. Thu spends time researching products and markets, introducing products at OCOP fairs, at some souvenir shops across the country and exporting to some foreign markets such as Europe, America, Canada..., thereby contributing to creating stable jobs for 6-7 local women.
To bring products to consumers, she expanded the market by expanding her approach to foreign customers who want to buy wholesale and Vietnamese sellers who want to export abroad. In addition, she put the products on domestic e-commerce platforms, promoting the products to domestic distributors and agents. In addition, the products are displayed at airports and souvenir shops to reach customers who love environmentally friendly products.
To achieve today's results is a journey of constant efforts of Ms. Thu, not only developing the economy but also helping farmers consume products (dried squash), creating jobs for women. "From business ideas to reality, there will be many difficulties, but as long as you have faith, dare to commit to change, learn and persevere, the path will always open before your eyes," Ms. Thu shared.
Vice President of Thanh Khe District Women's Union Do Thi Thu Hien said that in recent years, to support women in economic development, the union has issued many documents to support women in economic development; and conducted surveys on needs and ideas for starting a business.
In recent years, the association has organized the "Innovative Startup Ideas" contest for women to try their hand in all fields. In 2024, the contest had 9 ideas participating and the Moc So loofah project won first prize. From here, the district association selected 5 new, feasible startup business ideas to participate in the Women's Entrepreneurship, Digital Transformation, and Green Environment Innovation Festival organized by the City Women's Union; in which the Moc So loofah project won second prize; the Thao Moc Que idea won third prize...
In addition, in order to effectively implement the project to support women in starting a business and the project to support cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030, the Women's Union coordinated with the District People's Committee to organize a festival to connect female traders, start-ups, and women doing business in the district with the participation of more than 500 members. The festival established a new association of tourism products and services in Thanh Khe district with 8 members, training in sales skills on social networking sites and e-commerce channels.
Currently, the district has 3 groups supporting women in economic development. In addition, the district and wards have organized 4 classes for 465 female entrepreneurs and small traders on sales skills... "In the coming time, the district will take advantage of resources from many programs and projects to support women in starting their own businesses, continue to promote product consumption connections, build products for women, mobilize women to participate in new-style cooperatives, add confidence and motivation, and help women rise up," said Ms. Hien.
