At 9:00 a.m. this morning (March 6), the Ministry of Transport (MOT) coordinated with the People's Committees of Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh Road construction investment project, Rach Soi - Ben Nhat, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections. Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang and Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam attended.
Delegates and guests performed the ceremony of pressing the button to start the project.
Immediately after the leaders of the Ministry of Transport issued the order to start the Ho Chi Minh Road construction investment project, Rach Soi - Ben Nhat, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections, contractors began to start the equipment and machinery, officially starting the project.
When the route is completed, it will connect and shorten the distance to Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, and Soc Trang provinces, facilitating trade. That will be a big boost for the locality to make a breakthrough.
Human resources and machinery began construction of the project immediately after the Ministry of Transport's leaders gave the order to start construction.
Promoting the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain", completing the project on schedule
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh Road construction project from Rach Soi - Ben Nhat, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan is an important project in the Southwest region. In particular, this project has been awaited by the authorities and people in the region for many years.
According to the Deputy Minister, implementing the Party's policy, right from the beginning of the National Assembly's term, the Government and the Prime Minister have paid great attention and resolutely directed the development of plans, schemes, and breakthrough policies and mechanisms, focusing on prioritizing the allocation of all resources to develop the region's transport infrastructure.

On that basis, the Ministry of Transport has reviewed, evaluated and based on the specific conditions and advantages of the transport modes of each region, including the Mekong Delta.
To date, the Prime Minister has approved all five national specialized plans, which are favorable conditions for completing the construction of a synchronous and modern transport system plan to ensure effective connection between modes to restructure the transport market share, improve transport quality and reduce logistics costs.
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Rach Soi - Ben Nhat and Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections, when completed, will create a complete inter-regional road traffic system, contributing to reducing traffic load on roads in the area.
From there, promote socio-economic development, tourism, strengthen national defense and security in Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces in particular and the Southwest region in general. At the same time, contribute to effectively exploiting major national transport infrastructure projects.
In order for the project to be implemented and constructed with guaranteed progress and quality, the Deputy Minister of Transport requested the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, consulting units and contractors with the highest responsibility, promote the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", urgently develop a specific plan, and appropriate construction organization plan to complete the project on schedule.
Along with that, fully mobilize human resources, machinery and equipment to focus on implementing construction to ensure quality, progress and absolute compliance with legal regulations.
On the local side, the Deputy Minister of Transport also requested Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces to pay attention to directing the early completion of all site clearance work, especially resettlement areas and relocation of technical infrastructure works.
In addition, continue to direct local authorities to coordinate and create favorable conditions for investors and construction units throughout the construction process.
"With its responsibility, the Ministry of Transport will closely coordinate with localities, regularly inspect, urge, promptly resolve difficulties and problems; resolutely direct relevant agencies and units to implement the project to ensure the set quality and progress," the Deputy Minister of Transport emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that this is one of 17 important road sections passing through the province, according to the National Road Network Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

The project, together with the currently exploited traffic routes including National Highways 61, 63, 80, N1, Lo Te - Rach Soi Expressway and ongoing projects such as Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway... when completed, will form a vital traffic network, connecting localities in the Mekong Delta.
Thereby, creating conditions to connect localities and regions, promoting economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of people, especially for people in revolutionary bases, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas with many difficulties.
"Today's groundbreaking ceremony is just the beginning, there is still much work to be done urgently. On the part of Kien Giang province, we are committed to ensuring the progress of the work under the local responsibility.
With the profound meaning and importance of the project, I call on the people to agree, actively coordinate, create conditions and hand over the site so that the investor can start construction as soon as possible," said Mr. Nhan.
As one of the households who gave up their land and house to facilitate the project's implementation as planned, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang (living in Kien Giang province) shared that not only he but all the people here are extremely happy that soon there will be a road connecting the districts in the province, no longer having to rely on ferries. At the same time, it will help make the road to Bac Lieu closer.

Striving to open to traffic in 2025
According to Mr. Nguyen Vu Quy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, in order for the project to be completed on schedule, ensuring quality, technique, and aesthetics, during the construction process, the investor hopes to continue to receive attention and direction from the National Assembly, the Government, and leaders of central and local ministries and branches.
Especially the close direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Transport as well as the close coordination of the People's Committees of Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces, the sharing and support of the local authorities and people where the project passes through.

Strive to complete the entire project and open it to traffic in 2025, in accordance with the requirements of the National Assembly, the Government and the Ministry of Transport," said Mr. Quy.
By 7am this morning, all preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony of Ho Chi Minh Road, Rach Soi - Ben Nhat, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections, were completed.
More than 50km of Ho Chi Minh road, the West is closer
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Rach Soi - Ben Nhat, Go Quao - Vinh Thuan section, has a total length of nearly 52km, passing through Kien Giang and Bac Lieu provinces. The total investment is 3,900 billion VND. The Ho Chi Minh Project Management Board is assigned as the investor.
Of which, the Rach Soi - Ben Nhat section is over 11km long, starting point in Chau Thanh district, ending point in Giong Rieng district (Kien Giang province). The route coincides with the existing National Highway 61 from Km 88+540 - Km 77.
Equipment and machinery are ready to work immediately after receiving orders.
The Go Quao - Vinh Thuan section is more than 40km long, starting at Go Quao district (Kien Giang province), ending at Vinh Thuan district (Kien Giang).
Both routes are invested in construction with the scale of a level III plain road, four lanes, speed of 80km/h. It is expected to be basically completed by the end of 2025.
The total land area to be recovered for the project is more than 111 hectares, of which Kien Giang is more than 95 hectares and Bac Lieu is more than 16 hectares.
The project plays an important role for the Mekong Delta region in general and the two provinces of Kien Giang and Bac Lieu in particular.
Ho Chi Minh Road, Rach Soi - Ben Nhat section, will have a section that overlaps with National Highway 61.
After completion, it will connect Go Quao, Hong Dan and Vinh Thuan districts by road. This is an area with many ethnic minorities living, economic life is still difficult, has great potential for aquaculture development, is a large rice and fruit growing area of the region but does not have a suitable road system to exploit the advantages of the region.
The Ho Chi Minh Trail alone has a total length of about 3,183 km, of which the main route is about 2,499 km long and the western branch is 684 km long. To date, 2,488 km (more than 90%) of the main route and 258 km of the branch route have been completed. The remaining 256 km with five component projects are being implemented, including the Rach Soi-Ben Nhat section and the Go Quao-Vinh Thuan section.
The remaining section is Co Tiet - Cho Ben, over 87 km long, and is in the process of pre-feasibility study to complete and submit to competent authorities for approval of investment policy.
