According to the classification, in the South, Dong Nai is the third locality with the most seaports after Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (48 ports) and Ho Chi Minh City (41 ports). According to the overall plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Dong Nai seaports belong to group 4. Within group 4, Dong Nai seaports are classified as type 1 ports. Dong Nai will have three seaport areas: Phuoc An, Go Dau, Phuoc Thai; Nhon Trach and Long Binh Tan.
Specifically, the Phuoc An, Go Dau, and Phuoc Thai port areas can accommodate ships with a tonnage of up to 60,000 tons downstream of the Phuoc An bridge and up to 30,000 tons upstream of the Phuoc An bridge to Go Dau and Phuoc Thai. The Nhon Trach port area can accommodate ships with a tonnage of up to 45,000 tons. The Long Binh Tan port area has general cargo, container, and liquid/gas cargo terminals, accommodating ships with a tonnage of up to 5,000 tons.
