The former Tien Giang Provincial General Hospital, located in My Tho ward, Dong Thap province, has not yet been put back into use.

To date, 100% of units in Dong Thap province have completed the comprehensive inventory of public assets.

According to the Department of Finance of Dong Thap province, the management and use of public assets face several difficulties, such as: a large number of surplus buildings and land after restructuring, but many assets lack legal documentation, especially land use right certificates at the commune level. The handling of surplus assets depends mainly on adjusting land use planning and construction planning to suit the new land use purposes; the nature, characteristics, and scale of the old headquarters are no longer suitable for the new administrative units...

Speaking at a recent meeting, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, Pham Thanh Ngai, requested that departments, agencies, and localities in the province focus on a comprehensive review of the management and use of public assets; accurately identify actual needs to develop effective usage plans, avoiding deterioration, loss, and waste; clearly decentralize and delegate authority to ensure efficiency in management; and review and propose the conversion of the functions of headquarters in a suitable direction, prioritizing the education and health sectors.
