
In Dong Thap , the tree planting movement has become a meaningful activity, spreading widely among officials, union members, youth, and all segments of the population; thereby contributing to the development of urban green spaces, tree planting, ecosystem restoration, and the construction of green, clean, and beautiful new rural areas.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, in the current context, with climate change, landslides, droughts, saltwater intrusion, and environmental pollution becoming increasingly complex, planting trees is more practical and urgent than ever before.
The Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment also requested that departments, agencies, localities, and socio-political organizations continue to promote awareness of the importance of tree planting, forest protection, and environmental protection; launch widespread tree planting movements in offices, schools, residential areas, youth routes, public parks, and social welfare projects; pay attention to caring for and protecting trees after planting, ensuring good growth, avoiding formality and waste; link tree planting with building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environmental landscape, contributing to building a sustainable, livable, civilized, and modern Dong Thap province.
Nguyen Van Kiet, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, delivered a speech at the ceremony.At the ceremony, delegates and youth union members participated in planting trees at the historical site of the District Party Committee's base (Tram Doi).
In response to the tree planting and environmental protection program, the People's Committees of the communes and wards of My Tho, Phong Hoa, Truong Xuan, Lap Vo, Tan Duong, Tan Thanh, My Hiep, Sa Dec, and An Binh (Dong Thap province) received 15,470 forestry trees donated by various organizations.
On this occasion, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, in coordination with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, planted 4,100 trees in Truong Xuan commune, An Binh ward, and Sa Dec ward to participate in environmental protection and climate change mitigation efforts, aiming to fulfill the criteria for building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
