Include in the resolution
For many years, residents of My Tan 1 residential area, An Hai ward, have strongly supported the policy of donating land to widen the road in alley 211 Nguyen Van Thoai, which is over 350m long and has an average width of 3.5m. The section of Nguyen Van Thoai alley connecting to Lam Hoanh road, which is a "bottleneck," is only about 2.5m wide.
This area is located right next to My Khe beach, a densely populated residential area with many domestic and international tourists who come to stay, work, study, visit, and relax.
The alleyway was narrow, making it difficult for ambulances and fire trucks to access. Based on this reality, for many years, the Party cell of My Tan 1 residential area included in its resolutions the campaign to encourage residents to donate land and petitioned the higher-level Party committee and government to widen the road.
Since 2021, when Da Nang city decided to expand many roads from a width of 3.5-3.75m to 5-5.5m, the Party cell of My Tan 1 residential area has become even more determined and persistent in carrying out the tasks included in the resolution.

Untie the knot
The biggest obstacle was the "bottleneck" at the intersection with Lam Hoanh Street, due to three houses obstructing the road. However, after years of continuous petitions, in 2024, the city successfully relocated these three houses with a plan to resettle them in the same location, allowing them to face Lam Hoanh Street and providing financial assistance for them to rebuild their homes.
Mr. Ho Bon, Head of the Front Committee of My Tan Residential Area, encouraged the road construction workers.
In addition, in August 2024, the project to upgrade and renovate the road surface and drainage ditches of alleyways 23, 32, 35, and 65 of To Hien Thanh Street and alleyway 211 of Nguyen Van Thoai Street was approved for investment by the competent authority.
Residents were enthusiastic, with many households voluntarily dismantling fences, gates, and house walls to make way for road expansion. According to statistics, residents voluntarily donated over 400 square meters , while market land prices in alley 211 of Nguyen Van Thoai Street at one point reached 120 million VND per square meter. This doesn't even include the costs residents incurred themselves to dismantle fences, gates, and house walls, and then rebuild them further back by 0.5-1 meter.
"
"The total area of land donated by residents is over 400 square meters , estimated to be worth more than 10 billion VND. Each household contributed around 10 million VND to renovate the facade of their house after demolishing walls, fences, and gates to make way for road expansion."
Mr. Ho Bon, Head of the Front Committee of My Tan 1 residential area, An Hai ward.
By the end of July 2025, 123 households along alley 211 Nguyen Van Thoai had completed the handover of their land. The Party Committee and the residential area's Party branch are currently urging the remaining 7 households to quickly dismantle their fences, gates, etc., to hand over the land to the construction unit.
The current obstacle is the power poles, streetlights, and telecommunications poles that have not yet been relocated. Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyet Hong, Secretary of the Party Branch of My Tan 1 residential area, said that the Party branch, the residential area's Fatherland Front, and the neighborhood group will focus on mobilizing and supporting residents to hand over the land as soon as possible.
Workers are actively completing the connection of drainage from houses to the sewer system so that the road surface can be paved with asphalt soon.
At the same time, we continue to urge the relevant authorities to promptly relocate the power poles, streetlights, and telecommunication cables so that the road can be expanded as soon as possible, meeting the needs and aspirations of the people.
"
"My family dismantled the fence and gate, rebuilding them 0.8 meters further back and 8 meters long to help the residents of My Tan neighborhood widen the road, making it more spacious and airy."
Mr. Ho Pho, a resident of My Tan 1 residential area, An Hai ward.
To be completed in August 2025
According to Pham Phi Vu, Director of the Son Tra Area Investment and Construction Project Management Board, the construction contract for the project to upgrade and renovate the road surface and drainage ditches of alleyways 23, 32, 35, and 65 on To Hien Thanh Street and alleyway 211 on Nguyen Van Thoai Street is scheduled for completion in August 2025.
Currently, construction on the alleyways of To Hien Thanh Street has been completed. However, the construction of alleyway 211 on Nguyen Van Thoai Street is pending site clearance.
The contractor is mobilizing heavy machinery to accelerate construction progress, aiming for completion in August 2025.
The Son Tra Area Investment and Construction Project Management Board has sent documents and repeatedly requested relevant units, especially the electricity sector, to relocate power poles, streetlights, and telecommunication cables to clear the construction site for road expansion, but these poles have still not been relocated.
Therefore, the Son Tra Area Investment and Construction Project Management Board worked with the An Hai Ward People's Committee to agree on the next steps for implementation. Specifically, the expansion will be postponed until after the power poles, streetlights, and telecommunication cables are relocated and residents fully hand over the land.
The contractor will lay a 5cm thick layer of asphalt concrete on the road surface, following the existing road width of 4m, and complete the project by August 2025 so that people can use it on the occasion of the National Day on September 2nd.
As for the road expansion on the land donated by residents, the An Hai Ward People's Committee will use the ward's funds to invest in the comprehensive development of this road.
