The 2026 World Cup atmosphere is spreading to the Guadalajara Zoo in Mexico, where many unique "residents" have joined in predicting the results of the matches before kick-off.

Animals at Guadalajara Zoo participate in predicting the outcome of the 2026 World Cup.
The items offered to the animals for selection were quite diverse, ranging from food, jerseys, and boxes to balls bearing the logos of various teams. This activity attracted the attention of visitors, creating a cheerful atmosphere ahead of the matches at the 2026 World Cup Finals.
In the prediction section, the two elephants chose the Mexican flag for the match between Mexico and South Africa. Meanwhile, the gorillas seemed quite undecided between the Spanish and Uruguayan jerseys before making a choice leaning towards Spain.
Danae Vazquez, head of communications at Guadalajara Zoo, said: "The two elephants, Shanti and Kenya, chose Mexico to win against South Africa, while the match against South Korea ended in a draw. The two capybaras are undecided, so the result is still undecided."
It wasn't just elephants and gorillas; many other animals also participated in the predictions. Macaws predicted Mexico would win against the Czech Republic. Mountain lions moved the ball toward South Korea in their prediction for the match against the Czech Republic, while giraffes chose the Democratic Republic of Congo to win against Colombia.

A model of a soccer field was prepared for a fun prediction activity at the zoo.
These predictions were part of a series of fun activities celebrating the World Cup in Guadalajara, one of the cities hosting matches of the 2026 World Cup. Although purely for entertainment, the activities helped to stir up sporting spirit and add a special touch to the biggest football event on the planet.
