The announcement, made on June 26, comes amid fuel shortages and power outages caused by Ukrainian attacks on logistics lines and oil facilities across Crimea, Ukrainian territories controlled by the Russian Federation, and southern regions of the Russian Federation.
In a Telegram post, Sergey Aksyonov, the Moscow-appointed head of Crimea, stated: “A decision has been made… on signing decrees declaring a regional state of emergency in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.”
According to Aksyonov, the state of emergency came into effect at 1 PM on June 26 and will be maintained until the situation stabilizes, allowing for "the rapid resolution of tasks related to ensuring the stable operation of all sectors."
During a state of emergency, the government is empowered to restrict freedom of movement, suspend business operations, and carry out mandatory evacuations.
Ukraine escalates attacks on the Crimean Peninsula.
Crimea has declared a state of emergency amid increased Ukrainian airstrikes against the peninsula.
Kyiv stated that the attacks on the Crimean Peninsula were part of an effort to "isolate" Crimea from the Russian Federation and turn it into an "island."
Ukrainian forces have used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to establish de facto control over traffic on the R-280 “Novorossiya” federal highway, a route connecting the Rostov region of the Russian Federation with the Crimean Peninsula via Ukrainian territories under Russian control.
These attacks have led to fuel shortages in the Crimean Peninsula, which have worsened since mid-June. According to sources, many gas stations have stopped selling gasoline and diesel.
On June 23, Ukraine reportedly destroyed a crucial railway bridge across the North Crimean Canal, near the Rozdolne region.
According to the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO), the bridge is a "strategic military and logistical lifeline," used to transport goods, supplies, and military equipment from the Russian Federation across the Crimean Peninsula to southern Ukraine.
Russian news channels also reported on the explosions near the Kerch ferry terminal on June 26. Local residents said they saw smoke and smelled burning.
The Kerch region is an important military logistics center, connecting the Crimean Peninsula with the main territory of the Russian Federation.
The ferry route here has become increasingly important for the Russian Federation's logistics in southern Ukraine following repeated Ukrainian attacks on the Kerch Bridge.
The large-scale drone attack on June 26 took place just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced he had approved a 40-day operation by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) aimed at increasing pressure on the Russian Federation and forcing Moscow to move toward ending the war.
According to an analysis by The Kyiv Post, Ukrainian forces have significantly increased attacks targeting military infrastructure, energy supplies, transportation, and strategic bridges on the Crimean Peninsula.
These attacks caused power outages, fuel rationing, traffic restrictions, and tightened security measures.

"The beach tourism season is coming to an end."
The head of the Crimean administration appointed by Moscow said: “I cannot say exactly how long it will take, nor can I publicly disclose a specific plan of action. However, we are implementing measures,” while acknowledging that the Russian Federation's army cannot completely defend the peninsula.
Aksyonov said, "Unfortunately… there is no air defense system in the world that is absolutely perfect in terms of safety and effectiveness."
A Moscow resident vacationing in the city of Feodosia on the southeastern coast of the Crimean Peninsula said earlier this week that "everyone is scared, both locals and tourists."
"We were afraid we would never wake up again, we prayed all night," the man recounted after an attack that took place during the night.
"The sky looks like something out of the Star Wars movies," said the tourist.
Despite the ongoing war that has killed tens of thousands of people and devastated large areas of Ukraine, the Crimean Peninsula remains a popular tourist destination for many Russian citizens.
On June 22, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces' attacks were "bringing an end to the seaside tourism season in Crimea."
Listing a series of supposedly successful attacks, including strikes on oil storage facilities, gas compressor stations, and air defense systems, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense posted on social media that "the outlook for tourists is not very good."
