Patrick Dorgu continued his impressive form in Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Arsenal in the 23rd round of the Premier League at the Emirates. The Danish international unleashed a spectacular volley early in the second half to give United a 2-1 lead. This was his second consecutive goal, bringing his total for the month to three, since being deployed in a more attacking role.
However, the joy of the MU fans was dampened by Dorgu's condition. After a challenge with Ben White, the number 13 player suffered an injury and had to leave the field in the final 10 minutes. That was also the period when Arsenal equalized, before MU managed to score the winning goal to seal the match.
In the post-match press conference, manager Michael Carrick said: "Dorgu is a very important player for us, not only because of the goal but also because of his fitness, speed and the threat he poses on the wing. Hopefully it's just a muscle strain, but it's too early to conclude."
The English manager also expressed his delight at seeing Dorgu's increasing confidence. His two recent goals came in two different ways, reflecting the young player's clear progress in the new system.
MU will closely monitor Dorgu's condition ahead of the match against Fulham. Given his current form, his timely recovery would be very positive news for Carrick, as MU are seeking stability and momentum for the road ahead.
