Continuing their momentum from the end of the Bundesliga season, Dortmund remain undefeated at this year's Club World Cup. The 2023-2024 Champions League runners-up were expected to beat their rivals for the top spot in Group F, and they did just that.

In the group stage matches, coach Niko Kovac's team drew 0-0 with Fluminense, overcame South African team Mamelodi Sundowns in a spectacular match with 7 goals, and also defeated Ulsan HD by just 1 goal.

Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, is one of Dortmund's best players.

While none of Dortmund's performances in Group F were truly remarkable, Monterrey impressed by progressing through the group stage without a loss and finishing as runners-up behind Inter Milan. With that impressive form, Monterrey is predicted to be a tough opponent for Dortmund.
