Tens of thousands of opinions and sentiments from workers are proof of the immense trust and expectations that union members have for the Trade Union organization. Workers believe that, with a spirit of innovation and action, the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union will make groundbreaking decisions, worthy of the sacred mission and responsibility entrusted to it by the Party, the State, and the workers.
Expectations for a breakthrough term.
In order for the trade union to continue being a reliable support for its members and workers, trade union officials from provinces, cities, and industries all expect a strong transformation in their operational methods. This transformation aims to put workers at the center and promote genuine dialogue.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, Bui Thanh Nhan, expressed his hope that the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union would create even stronger momentum for innovation throughout the entire trade union system, especially in clearly defining the role of representing and protecting the rights of workers in the new situation.
Comrade Bui Thanh Nhan stated that what workers most desire today is for trade unions to operate effectively, be close to them, and protect their rights. Therefore, trade unions need to focus more strongly on dialogue, collective bargaining, improving the quality of collective labor agreements, caring for their lives, protecting jobs, and supporting workers in adapting to digital transformation.

In addition, the congress needs to set major directions for building a more professional, capable, technologically skilled, and adaptable trade union workforce.
"I also expect the congress to further clarify the model, role, functions, and activities of commune, ward, and special zone trade unions, as these are very important levels of the Vietnam Trade Union organization. This will help the Trade Union get closer to and understand its members and workers better, and provide more timely and effective support to workers," Comrade Bui Thanh Nhan emphasized.
Ms. To Thi Ai, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Department of the Lang Son Provincial Federation of Labor, expressed her hope that the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union would be a milestone marking a comprehensive transformation of the trade union organization.

The greatest expectation of trade union officials in Lang Son province is that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will continue to provide decisive guidance, enhancing the capacity and position of grassroots trade unions in dialogue, negotiation, and signing collective labor agreements, as this is the foundation and the ultimate "legal weapon" to protect workers.
Collective bargaining agreements should no longer be merely formalities, but must be substantive, containing more favorable provisions for workers than those stipulated by law, focusing on core issues such as wages, bonuses, meal allowances, and safe working conditions. When their rights are guaranteed by solid commitments, workers will truly feel secure and committed, viewing the trade union as their most reliable support system.
Besides protecting workers, Comrade To Thi Ai also hopes that the 14th Congress will provide direction for profound innovation in the methods of organizing patriotic emulation movements launched by trade unions. These movements need to be designed flexibly, reducing bureaucracy and closely adhering to the specific production and business characteristics of each type of enterprise.
Emulation must be linked with timely rewards and appropriately honor initiatives stemming from the practical experiences of direct laborers. This will strongly inspire a sense of responsibility and a desire to contribute, transforming emulation into a self-driven force that helps businesses achieve sustainable development and make positive contributions to the overall socio-economic development of the country.
Strong, substantive reforms, bringing us closer to our members.
How to keep employees committed to the company is a major concern for grassroots trade union officials.
Chairman of the Vietnam Agriculture and Environment Trade Union, Nguyen Ha Xuyen, expressed his hope that the Congress would create new momentum for the trade union organization to continue to innovate strongly, more substantively, be closer to its members, and better adapt to the new development context of the country.
Comrade Nguyen Ha Xuyen also expressed his hope that the Congress would make major decisions on building a professional, dedicated trade union cadre with strong dialogue and negotiation skills and the ability to adapt to new trends. For sectors with large geographical areas and many workers in disadvantaged regions, such as agriculture and the environment, he hoped for continued attention regarding mechanisms and resources to better care for union members and workers.
Tran Dinh Manh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Tomeco An Khang Company, stated: Social housing remains a long-awaited dream and aspiration for workers. We earnestly hope that more social housing will be built in industrial zones to make it accessible to workers. A stable place to live is essential for a successful career; only when workers have secure housing will they remain committed to the company in the long term.

Entering a new phase of development with increasingly demanding labor market requirements and a strong digital transformation process, Chairman of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation Trade Union, Dao Manh Kien, expects the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union to open up new directions for the Trade Union to continue to promote its role in representing, caring for, and protecting workers. This includes accelerating digital transformation from membership management to welfare implementation, helping workers easily access policies and improve their skills to adapt to artificial intelligence (AI), while also providing solutions to protect workers from online scams.
He expressed his wish for the Vietnam Trade Union to further promote digital transformation in its activities, from managing union members and implementing welfare programs to organizing emulation movements and implementing policies related to the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. Bringing these activities to the digital environment will help workers easily access information and facilitate their participation in and enjoyment of policies.
Strengthening communication, disseminating knowledge, and organizing training courses on digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence in production and business, tailored to the specific characteristics of each field and industry, is not only a requirement of the times but also a solution to help workers improve their skills and adapt to technological changes.
The most pressing desires from everyday life.
For millions of union members directly involved in production, the greatest expectations for the 14th Congress are encapsulated in very practical daily concerns: income, housing, and the future of their children, as well as the pressure to excel in the digital age. These are all challenges placed on the shoulders of the trade union organization.
Despite working hard and saving diligently, the dream of owning a home remains out of reach for many workers. Bui Duy Hien (a worker in Ha Dong, Hanoi) shared that although his and his wife's combined income is 28 million VND per month, the high cost of living in the capital and the expenses of raising two young children make it a constant struggle for the family. After 10 years of saving, they have accumulated over 300 million VND. Their greatest wish is to access social housing so they can feel secure and committed to their workplace.

Concerned about this issue, Mr. Tran Dinh Manh (Chairman of the Trade Union of Tomeco An Khang Company) and Mr. Nguyen Huy Quang (Chairman of the Trade Union of Somerset Hoa Binh Joint Venture) jointly proposed that the 14th Congress should discuss more vigorously and specifically to promote the construction of more social housing in industrial zones, helping workers realize their dream of having a stable home.
Another challenging burden for shift workers is childcare, as the strict schedules of public kindergartens don't fit their shift work schedules, while private schools are too expensive. Ms. Nguyen Thu Dao (NK Vietnam Co., Ltd.) expressed her hope that industrial zones would have more welfare facilities for female workers, especially daycare centers, so that workers can work with peace of mind while also taking good care of their families.
Looking forward to the Congress, trade union officials, members, and workers nationwide believe that, with a spirit of innovation and action, the 14th Congress will transform the aspirations and expectations of factories, enterprises, and units into groundbreaking decisions, affirming the position of the Vietnam Trade Union as a solid support and reliable companion of workers in the new development phase of the country.
