Studying abroad is becoming a popular choice for many young people.

According to statistics from the Canadian educational technology company ApplyBoard, here are some of the countries with the highest number of international students in the world. You can refer to this information to find a suitable country for your studies.

United Kingdom

With its rich history and high-quality education, the United Kingdom is considered one of the ideal study destinations for international students. According to the QS University Rankings 2024, the UK has four universities in the top 10 worldwide .

Courses here have shorter study durations compared to many other countries, where you can earn a bachelor's degree in 3 years and a master's degree in just 1 year. Currently, Accounting and Finance are the two most popular fields of study for international students in this country.

Additionally, after graduation, international students can stay here for two years to work. However, the cost of studying and living in the UK is quite expensive, and not everyone can afford to study in this country.

America

For decades, the United States has been considered a popular study destination for students. One of the reasons many young people dream of studying and developing themselves in the US is its advanced education system and the wide range of job opportunities with high salaries.

Currently, the US boasts 12 out of the world's top 20 universities, and the country has over 5,000 universities and colleges offering a wide range of disciplines, from engineering and economics to business administration and the arts.

However, one point you need to consider when choosing this country is the relatively high cost of tuition and living expenses. Currently, the cost of studying in the US ranges from $30,000 to $90,000 per year (approximately 0.7 to 2.2 billion VND), among the highest in the world.

Canada

One of the attractive aspects of Canada for international students is the government's support policies regarding employment and immigration. Specifically, Canada allows international students to stay and work for three years after graduation (PGWP program), helping them accumulate points for permanent residency. Those with the highest points can apply for skilled worker permanent residency.

On average, Canada attracts over 800,000 international students annually. The country boasts many universities ranked highly globally, such as the University of Toronto (top 20), McGill University, and the University of British Columbia (top 50).

The cost of studying in Canada ranges from 500 to 800 million VND per year, which is affordable for many Vietnamese people.

Australia

One of the reasons Australia is a popular choice for international students is its employment policy, as the country is experiencing a significant shortage of skilled labor.

At the same time, Australia is one of the few countries that allows international students to stay and work after graduation for up to 4 years for some bachelor's programs; 5 years for some master's programs and 6 years for all doctoral programs.

The cost of studying in Australia ranges from approximately 40,000 to 60,000 AUD per year (0.6 to 1 billion VND) for undergraduate students.

China

Thanks to its outstanding economic development and rich cultural heritage, China is gradually becoming a top study destination for students from South Korea, Thailand, India, and the United States. Furthermore, studying in China is a way for students to improve their Chinese language skills – the most widely used language in the world and increasingly essential in business.

China also offers many attractive scholarships for international students with good Chinese language proficiency and academic achievements. In addition to full tuition waivers, students awarded these two scholarships also receive free dormitory accommodation and a living allowance.

Even without a scholarship, the cost of studying in China remains very attractive compared to many European and American countries. The total cost for a year of living and studying is only about $15,000 (approximately 300 million VND). Importantly, China is very close to Vietnam, making travel easy and saving you a lot of money.
