In early 2025, many localities in Hoa Binh province organized attractive cultural and tourism activities, attracting tourists from both within and outside the province.
With the aim of maximizing its advantages to develop tourism into a key economic sector, building Hoa Binh into an attractive destination with unique products, and becoming a major tourism center in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, the province focuses on tourism development planning; prioritizing infrastructure investment in the overall development plan for the Hoa Binh Lake National Tourist Area and other tourist areas with great potential... As a result, Hoa Binh tourism is gradually becoming a destination attracting millions of domestic and international tourists every year.
With its beautiful landscapes and unique cultural experiences, Hoa Binh became the only representative from Vietnam to be named in the list of the world's most beautiful destinations by the renowned American travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller in December 2024. Along with organizing many effective business activities and a high number of tourists during weekends and holidays, the province's tourism industry aims to welcome 4.9 million visitors in 2025 (including 1 million international visitors); total tourism revenue is targeted at 5,400 billion VND.
From the beginning of 2025 until now, dozens of traditional festivals at the provincial, district, and commune levels have been organized, boosting tourism at various destinations. Notable examples include: the Muong ethnic group's Khai Ha Festival in Hoa Binh province, held in Phong Phu commune (Tan Lac district), attracting 95,000 participants, including 85,000 tourists; and the Tien Pagoda Festival (Lac Thuy district), which welcomed approximately 30,000 locals and tourists. Besides provincial-level festivals, many unique commune-level festivals have attracted numerous domestic and international tourists, such as: Gau Tao (Mai Chau), Khenh Temple (Lac Son district), and Chua Thac Bo Temple (Cao Phong district, Da Bac province)...
In February 2025, the Ngoi Hoa Eco-tourism Area in Suoi Hoa commune (Tan Lac district) officially opened, promising to become a prominent destination in Hoa Binh province with luxurious and high-class accommodation and resort experiences; and vibrant recreational activities such as: rainbow slides, jet skis, kayak racing, grass sledding, etc. Here, visitors can explore the majestic and romantic natural landscape of Hoa Binh lake; a colorful entertainment paradise with refreshing and exciting water sports activities. Especially, visitors have the opportunity to experience the longest inflatable slide in Southeast Asia.
According to Ms. Quách Thị Kiều, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hòa Bình province, in order to achieve the goals and plans for tourism development in 2025 and the following years, the province will prioritize investing in synchronized technical infrastructure and improving the quality of tourism services. This includes focusing on developing cultural tourism, preserving and promoting local heritage values, and concentrating on developing high-quality resort and sports products.
On the other hand, to attract tourism investment and facilitate convenient travel for tourists, the locality has invested in ports and roads along both sides of the Hoa Binh Lake tourist area to connect various destinations. At the same time, it has restored and renovated historical and cultural relics and scenic spots to become tourist attractions; promoted and developed high-quality tourism projects and products to exploit potential and attract more tourists to the province; striving to make tourism a key economic sector, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security.
Ms. Tran Minh Hang (a tourist from Hanoi) shared that Hoa Binh has the geographical advantage of being next to the capital city of Hanoi, with convenient transportation, beautiful natural landscapes, and many places that still retain the original cultural identity of ethnic groups. In particular, the province is the "capital" of the Muong people – a distinctive culture. With its strong urban development, Hoa Binh is becoming an ideal destination for tourists to visit and relax for short trips, at a cost that suits the budget of most people.
In the coming period, the province will continue to develop a system of highly interconnected products such as: ecotourism and resort tourism; community and rural tourism associated with OCOP products combined with traditional craft village experiences; cultural and historical tourism combined with festivals; culinary tourism associated with cultural and sports events; government tourism, digital tourism; and health and wellness tourism… Along with that, Hoa Binh will effectively implement the Project on preserving and promoting the valuable traditional culture of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development under the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Strong tourism products in the areas of culture, ecology, resort, and community tourism will be prioritized. Several high-quality entertainment and recreation projects in the Hoa Binh Lake tourist area will be completed and put into operation, creating a highlight to attract tourists to the locality.
