Rich in potential and advantages

Pleiku City is the economic, political , and socio-cultural center of Gia Lai province, possessing rich potential for ecotourism with its picturesque natural landscapes. Furthermore, the long-standing cultural traditions of the ethnic minority communities (Bahnar, Jrai), reflected in their communal houses, burial houses, burial house statues, and traditional festivals, are still preserved today.

In particular, Pleiku City is also known for its extinct volcanic craters (Bien Ho Lake) and active volcanic craters (Ham Rong Mountain) that have been dormant for millions of years.

Pleiku City is situated along the transportation axis between National Highway 14 and National Highway 19, near the Indochina crossroads, on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and within the growth triangle of neighboring provinces as well as the neighboring countries of Cambodia and Laos. This has created favorable conditions for trade and travel for the people, connecting various tourist areas and destinations.

In recent years, Pleiku City has developed significantly and gradually become an attractive destination in Gia Lai province. Its gross domestic product has increased considerably; the economic structure has shifted strongly towards increasing the proportion of industry, trade, and services. The city has also attracted many projects in the fields of industry, processing, tourism, and services.

To date, the city has over 200 accommodation establishments, including more than 60 hotels, 4 guesthouses, and 130 motels, with over 2,800 rooms and 5,000 beds. Generally, the hotels and guesthouses in the city are mostly small and medium-sized, but the quality of service is guaranteed according to regulations.

Recently, many businesses have chosen Pleiku City to invest in tourism and service development, such as: Dien Hong Park, Bien Ho-Chu Dang Ya Tourist Area, Hoi Phu Stream Tourist Area, etc.

In addition, the city's tourist attractions and entertainment venues have been upgraded and beautified to meet the sightseeing and entertainment needs of local people and attract domestic and international tourists, such as: Plei Op Cultural and Tourism Village, Dien Hong Park, Bien Ho Scenic Area, Pleiku Prison Historical Site, Hoi Phu Martyrs' Memorial Temple… Particularly, the Monument of President Ho Chi Minh with the Ethnic Groups of the Central Highlands and Dai Doan Ket Square have attracted many groups of visitors…

Currently, in addition to traditional tourism products, Pleiku City is coordinating with relevant agencies to promote the development of new tourism products and introduce several new tourism products into operation, which have initially received positive feedback from tourists.

These include tourism products combined with gong and Xoang dance performances at Dai Doan Ket Square and the Bien Ho scenic area. In particular, the city is creating favorable conditions and coordinating with the Provincial Tourism Association and tourism service businesses to expand tourism spaces, develop more tours and routes, and increase the length of stay for tourists.

Several new tours and routes have been introduced, such as community-based tourism products, experiential tourism, visits to sculpture gardens, brocade weaving and basketry...; and exploring the cultural characteristics of local residents in Ia Nueng village (Bien Ho commune) and Op village (Hoa Lu ward). Through learning about the cultural values, daily life, and work of the people, tourists are able to convey the cultural message in the most authentic and vivid way.

Diversify products to attract tourists.

Pleiku city boasts a cool climate, fresh air, and refreshing water from the Tonle Sap Lake; a green and clean agricultural production area; abundant forest resources; and incredibly beautiful natural landscapes. Therefore, the city has been prioritizing the exploitation of its natural advantages and focusing on the healthcare industry combined with resort tourism.

With the goal of developing Pleiku into a " Green Highland City for Health," in line with the natural characteristics and cultural identity of the Central Highlands region, the city has gradually invested in modern urban infrastructure; the system of street trees, parks, and gardens has been systematically invested in.

In addition, the city also focuses on investing in the construction of public works and social welfare facilities such as schools, bus stations, hospitals, upgrading the airport, and establishing temporary parking systems on roads and sidewalks; detailed planning for the development of commercial areas, supermarkets, markets in various areas, pedestrian shopping streets, food streets, and safe agricultural product markets; attracting investment in hospitals, developing waste and wastewater treatment systems, and urban green spaces.

At the same time, the city is also promoting organic and high-tech agriculture and the use of renewable energy industries to preserve the environment and create a green, clean, and beautiful city to attract tourists.

To develop and promote tourism products in the future, Pleiku needs systematic planning, selection, research, investment, brand building, and promotion to create diverse tourism products with distinctive characteristics and unique features, aiming to produce national and local-level tourism products.

The products must also have a high degree of interconnectedness, catering to all types of needs and target audiences, with a focus on products that leverage the strengths and characteristics of the region, linked to national cultural identity.

Historical tourism, festival tourism, spiritual tourism, cultural-sports tourism; festival tourism, cultural-ecological tourism, and resort tourism will have increasing prospects, especially targeting high-income earners, retirees, and those who can afford long-term tourism combined with health and wellness.

At the same time, attention should be paid to developing community-based, budget-friendly tourism, where tourists can eat, sleep, and interact harmoniously with local families and communities to gain a deeper understanding of local culture and social life.

Besides tourism products and tours, the city has been developing increasingly diverse and unique souvenir products and artifacts to meet the spending needs of tourists, especially handicrafts, local specialties, and unique mementos with humanistic and historical value such as: traditional musical instruments, bags, brocade clothing, baskets, miniature wooden statues, etc.

In particular, the city also needs to create diversification in interconnectedness, linkages, unity, and mutual support and complementarity. Collaboration between tourism products and agencies, departments, and sectors, including hotels, travel agencies, airlines, and trade, is crucial in organizing tours to enhance international competitiveness.

At the same time, it is necessary to minimize spontaneous and unhealthy competition between provinces and localities, promote the unique strengths of each locality and unit, and create closely linked and attractive tourism tours and routes for the benefit of common development.

Diversification of tourism products is achieved not only by creating new individual services, but also by creating new package deals. Diversification of services will better meet the needs of tourists, attract more participants in providing various products, create more jobs, and increase economic benefits for investors and localities.
