Bringing election information to voters.

In preparation for the 16th National Assembly elections and the elections for People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, mountainous areas with a large Khmer population, such as O Lam commune and Nui Cam commune, are proactively stepping up propaganda efforts, preparing personnel, ensuring security and order, and creating favorable conditions for the successful organization of the elections.

In O Lam commune, where the Khmer people make up over 65% of the population, election preparations are being carried out urgently and systematically. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune successfully organized the third consultative meeting, finalizing the official list of 47 candidates (from 58 nominated) to elect 29 representatives to the new commune People's Council. The candidate structure ensures representativeness, focusing on the proportion of women, young people, non-Party members, and includes 14 candidates from the Khmer ethnic group.

Candidates were allocated to 6 electoral units; of which 5 units had 8 candidates, and 1 unit had 7 candidates. “To facilitate voters, the commune Election Committee established 18 polling stations, including 12 areas with a high concentration of Khmer people in hamlets, villages, and settlements. The voter list was compiled and publicly posted from the beginning of February 2026,” shared Khuất Thành Phương, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ô Lâm commune.

According to Phan Thanh Luong, Chairman of the People's Committee and Chairman of the Election Committee of O Lam commune, in parallel with propaganda on the radio system and social media, the locality is strengthening visual propaganda through billboards and posters; using bilingual Vietnamese-Khmer; and integrating election content into people's meetings and group activities so that people understand their rights and civic duties.

Security and order maintenance, as well as the handling of complaints and denunciations, were strictly supervised; the subcommittees serving the election regularly inspected and promptly resolved any arising issues. "With the determination of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, O Lam commune aims to organize a safe and democratic election, truly becoming a great festival for all the people," said Mr. Phan Thanh Luong.

In Nui Cam commune, a mountainous area with a scattered population, the atmosphere leading up to the election day is evident throughout the streets. According to Phan Thanh Tai, Chairman of the People's Committee and Chairman of the Election Committee of Nui Cam commune, after a review, the entire commune has approximately 18,600 voters out of a total population of 25,000, belonging to 11 hamlets; the number of representatives to be elected to the Commune People's Council is 25. After the third consultative meeting, the list of candidates has been narrowed down to 43.

The commune's Election Committee established 6 electoral units, with 13 polling stations located at hamlet people's offices and schools. Electoral unit No. 4 alone comprises 3 polling stations in the hamlets of Vo Dau, Vo Ba, and Thien Tue – areas with high mountainous terrain and scattered populations. The propaganda work was implemented flexibly, adapting to the actual conditions. The local authorities proactively coordinated with the Management Board of the Cam Mountain Tourist Area to disseminate information through the unit's public address system and mobile loudspeakers. Simultaneously, they effectively utilized associations, organizations, Zalo groups, social media, and the electronic information portal to "cover" election information.

With over 30% of its population being Khmer, Nui Cam commune focuses on securing the support of monks, Ta A Cha (a Buddhist community leader), and influential figures in the community. The commune has two Khmer Theravada Buddhist temples: Svai Ta Som and Koh Onh Deth. “Periodically, on a quarterly basis, the authorities meet with representatives of the Ta A Cha committee and monks to inform them about the socio-economic situation, security, order, and local policies. Based on this, we seek the support of monks, Ta A Cha, and influential figures in the work of disseminating information and encouraging people to vote fully and on time. This includes the upcoming election of representatives to the Commune People's Council,” Mr. Phan Thanh Tai further shared.

With thorough preparation, a high sense of responsibility from the entire political system, and the consensus of the people, election preparations in the province are being implemented on schedule and in accordance with regulations. This is an important preparatory step to successfully organize the election, ensuring it truly is a festival for all citizens, meeting the trust and expectations of voters in the province.
