Conversely, many people frankly criticized the flippant attitude used in the clip for comparing historical sites and tourist attractions, deeming it unacceptable.
It can be seen that in recent years, the incorporation of national identity, traditional culture, and heritage from across the country into cultural and entertainment products has become increasingly popular and impactful. This is not just a trend but a defining characteristic of the process of international integration. Promoting the identity of one's homeland is an effective way to build a brand identity and a "cultural passport" for each nation and people amidst the strong wave of cultural exchange occurring globally.
A recent example is the success of the music video "Bac Bling" (Bac Ninh), which became a global phenomenon, highlighting the heritage, scenic spots, and cuisine of the Northern Vietnamese countryside. It became a trending topic on international search engines. The effectiveness in promoting tourism, culture, and heritage was instantaneous, reaching top rankings in many international forums.
However, the heritage tourism journey still lacks such promotional products. For example, consider the story of the village communal houses in Southern Vietnam. Across almost all the southern provinces and cities, only the ancient Binh Thuy communal house (Can Tho) has been effectively developed for tourism and is consistently included in tours and itineraries. Other localities, such as Ho Chi Minh City – despite possessing nearly 300 village communal houses – are completely absent from established tours. It is clear that the value of heritage across the country still has much room for improvement. The most effective way is for each individual to better understand and be more aware of the heritage around them.
However, making inaccurate comparisons, selectively editing and generalizing, and then posting them on social media will create distorted views of heritage. This will make it very difficult to promote and enhance the value of heritage. The effects of time and historical events have, to some extent, caused some heritage sites to no longer be as intact as they were when they were first formed; unfortunately, damage to heritage and a loss of cultural value have occurred… We have a duty to re-evaluate, understand, inherit, and promote the beautiful values born from generations of ancestors, and not allow heritage to be damaged again.
