Ea Kly fosters confidence to move forward.

(CPV) - As the sun rises, the central area of ​​Ea Kly commune, Krong Pac district, Dak Lak province, bursts with the energy of a new day. Along the roads, people head to their fields, traders, and students excitedly go to school, creating a bustling and noisy atmosphere. This is what a new day looks like in Ea Kly now, a far cry from the desolate and deserted scene of the past.

Officials stay close to villages and hamlets.

Speaking with us, Tran Ngoc Liem, Standing Committee member of the District Party Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department of the Krong Pac District Party Committee, said that Ea Kly, which was previously considered a difficult area where people had to leave to make a living, now has a stable income, many households are well-off, and the economy is developing quite rapidly and comprehensively right on this land.

Upon entering the commune's People's Committee headquarters, the first person we met was the Party Secretary, Nguyen Van Ha. At first glance, the Secretary, born in 1984 and a former Youth Union official, appeared quite unassuming, yet possessed a mature and composed demeanor; his voice was soft but open and candid, and his eyes radiated determination and decisiveness…

In January 2023, upon assuming the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Ea Kly commune, the head of the commune's Party Committee was concerned with how to develop this rural area, where 13% of the population are ethnic minorities, comprising 24 villages and hamlets with over 22,000 inhabitants, to its full potential and strengths. Therefore, the first task was to immediately begin working with the collective with the determination to bring about change, transformation, and breakthroughs…

The commune Party Committee advocates for revitalizing the working style and rectifying the working methods of cadres, civil servants, and public employees; assigning and assigning responsibilities to each Party committee member, staying close to the local area and the people with the motto of going to the grassroots with "thinking with the mind, walking with the feet, speaking with the mouth, and working with the hands," creating genuine unity within the Party Committee and consensus among all strata of the people.

The commune's Party Committee currently has 789 members operating in 36 subordinate branches. In recent times, the Party Committee has focused on leading the construction of new rural areas, exploiting the potential and advantages for socio-economic development, achieving many clear and tangible results.

The collective leadership of the Party Committee and its leaders set an example and took the lead, resulting in noticeable changes. Therefore, the Ea Kly commune Party Committee has been able to harness collective strength and the consensus of the people towards long-term, fundamental, and sustainable development. The Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, and assigned officials and civil servants have promptly addressed emerging issues in the villages and hamlets. As a result, the people are encouraged to share information, allowing the commune leaders to promptly understand their living conditions and concerns.

Success comes from determination and action.

It had been quite a while since our last visit to Ea Kly, and we could clearly feel the progress and changes happening day by day in this once impoverished rural area. Along the road to the commune center, we saw lush green rice paddies, vast plantations of coffee, durian, lychee, and other fruit trees, interspersed with sturdy, well-built houses built close together, each with a spacious cement yard for drying produce and daily activities.

Ea Kly continues to develop agriculture, promoting the transformation of crops and livestock; maintaining the effectiveness of cooperatives such as: early-ripening lychee cultivation in village 12A; rice cultivation in village 4A; rice milling and processing plants producing ST24 and ST25 rice in Hue Luong, Dua Hoa, Hai Hoan...; bird's nest production in Thien Hoa, Nguyet Toi... From there, it leads, supports, and contributes to achieving the annual socio-economic targets.  

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Van Nam commune, the commune's economy has maintained a fairly high growth rate, especially with the vigorous and comprehensive implementation of the new rural development program. To date, 95% of the commune's main roads have been asphalted or concreted; 95.27% of village and hamlet roads have been hardened; 100% of households have access to electricity; average income reaches 62.29 million VND/person/year; and the poverty rate is only 0.76%. The political system is increasingly strengthened, security and national defense are ensured; and the fields of education, health, culture, and sports have achieved many successes, meeting the needs of the people well. Currently, the commune has achieved 16 out of 19 criteria for advanced new rural development.

Comrade Hoang Huu Triet, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said that Party building work has been emphasized, focusing on planning, training, and arranging a rational team of cadres from the commune to the villages and hamlets, doing a good job of creating sources and developing Party members; focusing on many solutions to improve the quality of Party branch activities, building the "Four Good Party Branch" model, and innovating towards practical and effective activities.

Leaders of Ea Kly commune discussed with local people how to increase the yield of new rice varieties.

We visited the home of Tran Trong Khai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Village 10A. He expressed: "As a Party member, we must set an example for the people to follow." His family currently owns 1.2 hectares of land planted with durian, coffee, and betel nut trees, with an income of approximately 700 million VND per year. His successful economic endeavors have spread throughout the village; many households have changed their mindset and methods, applying technology to production, increasing their income, and reducing poverty.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Xuan Khanh, Secretary of the Party Branch of Hamlet 5, shared that the Hamlet Party Committee focuses on leading cadres and Party members to promote their roles and responsibilities in mobilizing the people to actively engage in production, striving to change their mindset and methods, and rising out of poverty sustainably and gradually becoming wealthy. According to him, the most noticeable change is that the people have changed their thinking and are more proactive in doing business compared to before.

It can be affirmed that, keeping pace with the flow of innovation and building upon the achievements of many generations, the local commune leadership has shown foresight, closely followed the directives of the district and province, and applied practical experience to find directions and methods with determination and perseverance to build and develop their homeland.

Answering the question of why Ea Kly has seen so many positive changes, the Party Secretary of the commune, Nguyen Van Ha, enthusiastically stated: “Genuine unity is the top priority, followed by democracy fully implemented at the grassroots level, the exemplary role of officials, and then all policies and development goals must originate from reality, all for the benefit of the people. Ea Kly continues to proactively transform potential into resources, being dynamic, self-reliant, and strong to move forward.”

Having weathered many ups and downs, today the land of Ia Kly presents a bright future. The same land and people as before are now filled with vibrant green, nurturing aspirations with vast fields of coffee, rice, durian, lychee, and other fruit trees. Villages and hamlets are built solidly and impressively along vital, interconnected roads... This achievement is built with hands, minds, and unwavering dedication.
