This funding will provide emergency support to farmers most severely affected by the fertilizer crisis. EU member states can supplement their national funding with double the amount they receive from the EU. If fully utilized, the total amount of support available could reach €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion).

The proposal to mobilize agricultural reserve funds still requires approval from EU member states. If approved, the proposal is expected to be officially published by the end of July. Amendments must also be approved by the European Parliament (EP) and the EU Council.
