Party branch secretary close to the people.
I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Danh Phich, the Party Secretary and Head of Son Thinh Hamlet, My Thuan Commune, during a visit to the area to verify information related to an incident that occurred there. Mr. Phich provided me with a great deal of support, which greatly facilitated the verification process.
When working with the villagers, Mr. Phich always greeted them gently and warmly. Whenever he called out or asked for help, the villagers readily cooperated. Through these simple stories and the trust and affection the villagers showed him, I could sense the prestige of an official who had been closely associated with the hamlet for many years, especially with the Khmer people in Son Thinh hamlet.
Over several decades of service, Mr. Danh Phich has held various positions. However, he has spent most of his time in the hamlet, working closely with the people. Because of this, over the years, he has become as familiar to the villagers as family. Not only does he know the circumstances of each household, but he is also the person they turn to whenever they face difficulties or need assistance. "Now, almost every household in the hamlet has my phone number. If people have anything to report, ask questions, or need help with, they just call," Mr. Phich shared.
This close relationship has become a bridge, enabling residents to proactively provide information to hamlet leaders. Whenever they spot strangers in the area or notice any unusual activity, they quickly report it. As a result, many cases are promptly identified and public awareness campaigns are conducted, contributing to maintaining security and order in the area.
Energetic and enthusiastic
After many years of dedication to youth union work, Ms. Truong Thi Nhu Ngoc was entrusted with the important responsibility of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Minh commune. Initially, Ms. Ngoc felt a little apprehensive; however, with a proactive learning spirit, she gradually adapted and successfully fulfilled her duties.
Ms. Truong Thi Nhu Ngoc continues to maintain the habit of regularly being present at the community center, participating in activities with the people. From social welfare programs and environmental sanitation campaigns to community activities in the area, she proactively participates to understand the real situation and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the people.
According to Ms. Ngoc, direct contact with people in grassroots activities helps her gain more practical information, supplementing her monitoring and understanding of the situation through regular work channels. “Through participating in activities in the hamlets with officials, agencies, and departments of the commune, I have the opportunity to listen more to everyday stories, thereby better understanding the issues that people are concerned about. For me, each grassroots activity is not simply a task, but also an opportunity to observe, listen, and learn from the lives of the people themselves,” Ms. Ngoc confided.
Nguyen Thanh Duy, Secretary of the Youth Union branch in Nga Bat hamlet, said that Ms. Ngoc has a very close grasp of activities at the grassroots level and proactively communicates when needed to coordinate tasks. "It's very convenient for grassroots movement leaders to exchange information when necessary," Duy shared.
