Rice prices continue to fall.

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta region today, February 19th, fluctuated slightly. Market volume was low, some types of raw rice continued to decline, and paddy prices remained stable.

Today, February 19, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remained relatively stable. Some raw rice varieties continued their downward trend, while fresh paddy prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of raw 5451 rice has decreased by 150 VND, fluctuating between 8,500-8,600 VND/kg; raw OM 380 rice has decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 7,450-7,600 VND/kg; finished OM 380 rice fluctuates between 8,800-9,000 VND/kg; raw IR 504 rice fluctuates between 7,700-7,800 VND/kg; finished IR 504 rice fluctuates between 9,500-9,700 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, prices fluctuate between 5,450 and 7,300 VND/kg. Currently, broken rice is priced at 7,100 - 7,300 VND/kg; broken rice (grades 3-4) has increased by 100 VND to 6,100-6,200 VND/kg; and dry rice bran has increased by 50 VND to 5,550 - 5,700 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the week.

Observations in various localities today show that rice supplies are arriving sporadically, and buying and selling transactions remain slow. In Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), supplies are low, mainly from Cambodia, and prices continue to fall slightly, except for IR 50404 and fragrant rice, which are of relatively good quality and maintain their prices. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), supplies are also low, but fragrant rice from Kien Giang, Can Tho , and Hau Giang is of relatively better quality than yesterday, and rice prices fluctuate slightly.

In An Giang , warehouses are buying weakly, transactions are slow, and buyers are waiting for further price drops before purchasing. At Sa Dec market (Dong Thap), transactions are slow, warehouses are selecting rice, and the price of raw rice purchased by warehouses has decreased compared to yesterday. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), supplies are arriving sporadically, warehouses are selecting good quality rice for purchase, and prices are decreasing depending on the quality of the rice; the market is weak.

At retail markets, the prices of various types of rice remained relatively stable compared to the beginning of the week, except for regular rice, which increased by 1000 VND, fluctuating between 15,000 and 16,000 VND/kg. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice ranges from 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at 22,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice is at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice fluctuates around 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,000 VND/kg.

Regarding fresh rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current prices are as follows: IR 50404 rice ranges from 5,400 to 5,600 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice ranges from 6,500 to 6,700 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice increased by 100 VND, ranging from 5,800 to 6,100 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is at 6,600 to 6,700 VND/kg; OM 18 rice ranges from 6,500 to 6,700 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 rice is at 9,200 VND/kg.

Observations in many localities today show a fairly large supply of rice, but buying and selling transactions are slow. In Ca Mau, farmers are offering rice at high prices, but there are few new buyers, and virtually no transactions. In Hau Giang, traders have stopped buying in large quantities, mainly asking to reduce the amount of rice already deposited.

In Can Tho, rice trading remains stagnant, with few buyers and some traders offering low prices. In An Giang, prices have decreased slightly in some districts, but many farmers are maintaining high prices for high-quality rice, resulting in slow trading. In Kien Giang, rice trading is very slow, and the price of fragrant rice has fallen.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today decreased slightly compared to the beginning of the week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price of 5% broken rice is 394 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is 369 USD/ton; and 100% broken rice is 310 USD/ton.
