Bernard Werber is one of the most widely read contemporary French writers in the world . After studying law and criminology in Toulouse, Bernard Werber entered journalism school in Paris. His first major report was done abroad, on the theme of safari ants in the Ivory Coast. Upon his return, he began working for many newspapers such as L'Événement, Le Point, VSD ... until he took over the science section of Le Nouvel Observateur and worked there for 7 years.

The investigation of safari ants inspired him to write his first novel in 1991 - Ants . The work quickly became a resounding success in France and around the world. To date, Bernard Werber has published about 30 books including novels, short stories...

Bernard Werber's books have been translated into 30 languages and sold more than 23 million copies worldwide. His most recent work, published in October 2023, is titled Le Temps des Chimères ( The Time of Illusions ).
