Meeting with retired senior military officers.

On December 21st, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Committee, People's Council, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee organized a meeting with retired senior military officers to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2025).

General Le Hong Anh, former member of the Politburo and former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party; Lieutenant General Le Xuan The, Commander of Military Region 7, along with veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and retired generals and senior military officers residing in the city, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, shared information on the city's socio -economic situation in 2025 and its development direction for 2026. Mr. Minh stated that, in recent times, the city has consistently received dedicated, responsible, and comprehensive contributions from retired military generals and senior officers, especially valuable lessons and experiences in Party building, national defense, and the development of a strong defense zone.

In particular, retired generals and senior military officers continue to demonstrate their capabilities and wisdom; they both contribute ideas and serve as exemplary role models, actively mobilizing the people to agree with the city's policies and decisions very effectively, especially important policies and decisions to build the city's armed forces into a "revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern" force.

“It can be affirmed that every development of the City, day by day, hour by hour, always has the important contribution of you, our esteemed colleagues. The City Party Committee, the City People's Council, the City People's Committee, and the City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front hope that you will always maintain good health; continue to show concern, dedicate your affection, and contribute even more of your experience to the development of the City,” Mr. Vo Van Minh emphasized.

On behalf of the city's veterans, Major General Nguyen Hoang, former Deputy Commander of Military Region 9, former Commander of the 4th Corps, and a member of the City's Veterans Association, expressed his joy and pride in the positive achievements and results that the country and Ho Chi Minh City have achieved in the past year.

Major General Nguyen Hoang affirmed that retired generals and senior officers in particular, and veterans in general, are committed to continuing to contribute to the common cause to the best of their abilities; always setting a good example in life, propagating and encouraging their families and the people to abide by the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws; always reminding their children and grandchildren to study and train to become useful citizens, living up to family traditions, doing good deeds, acts of kindness, and contributing to building the country and the city.

At the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, reviewed the glorious history of the Vietnam People's Army over 81 years of building, fighting, winning, and maturing; and informed retired generals and senior military officers about the situation of implementing local military and national defense tasks of the Ho Chi Minh City armed forces in 2025 and the key tasks for 2026.

Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung stated that over the years, the armed forces of the city have always upheld the tradition of "unwavering loyalty, tenacious steadfastness, unity, discipline, dynamism, creativity, and decisive victory," achieving many great accomplishments in carrying out military and national defense tasks and were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces for the third time by the Party and the State in early 2025.
