His firepower, his ability to cover the pitch and his tactical vision were his strengths, now complemented by his confidence in finishing. It’s a combination that Flick can’t ignore.
Of course, opponents like Seoul and Daegu do not reflect the real challenge Barcelona will face. The next test will come in the Joan Gamper Cup against Como, before the La Liga season kicks off against Mallorca. But Gavi's performances so far have been enough to make him a top choice in midfield.
A Gavi ready to return – not just to integrate, but to compete on equal terms with Pedri, De Jong and anyone else dreaming of a starting spot in the Barcelona squad. And for Flick, that is a welcome “problem”.
