Gen Z faces peer pressure.

Báo Tuổi TrẻBáo Tuổi Trẻ11/01/2025

Many Gen Z individuals often feel inferior and inadequate compared to their peers. The consequence is pressure, stress, and an inability to escape negative emotions they harbor.

Many people are so preoccupied with chasing intangible standards, constantly looking at the success of others as a benchmark, that they inadvertently forget their own goals and values.

Don't rush to compare yourself to others. Peer pressure is a form of psychological stress that arises when you or others compare you to others in terms of appearance, abilities, grades, status, etc. This leads to feelings of pressure, sadness, and depression. This becomes even more terrible in the digital world with the rapid development of social media.

Scrolling through social media has plunged many Gen Z into a vicious cycle of self-comparison, constantly focusing on and talking about others while neglecting themselves. They want to be successful, talented, and wealthy like others, but they fail to focus on developing their own potential and take action to achieve their dreams.

Comparing yourself to more successful people before even recognizing your own strengths and weaknesses can easily lead to anxiety and pressure. Constantly chasing after others' success can result in insomnia, restlessness, and worry... and a feeling that you don't fit in with where you live and work.

Unconsciously changing behavior, doing things one doesn't want to do. Most notably, constantly putting oneself on a scale, comparing oneself to others and then devaluing oneself.

Be the best version of yourself. To overcome peer pressure, it's time to look at yourself, accept and confront what you are like now. If you continue to hold onto peer pressure, you will lose many things, including what you already have.

All success and happiness come through a process of hard work, self-improvement, and self-belief.

Give yourself the trust and respect for your own process. Temporarily ignore what others are saying and create some space for yourself. Listen to what you want, what you can do, and what you need to do to realize those desires.
