On March 26, representatives from the University of Education ( Hue University) announced that they had submitted a criminal complaint to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police to investigate allegations of someone impersonating a lecturer at the university to defraud students.
According to initial information, Hue University of Education had previously announced the registration period for the aptitude test for admission to the early childhood education and music education majors in 2024.
Following this announcement, some individuals impersonated school officials and lecturers to post misleading information targeting prospective students and parents interested in applying to these programs.
This group created a fake social media page impersonating the official information page of Hue University of Education. On this page, the group "announced" that the registration system for the aptitude test for admission to the above-mentioned majors in 2024 had expired.
Candidates wishing to register for the exam must contact the group directly via phone or chat. Each registration requires a "fee" of 500,000 VND.
Representatives from Hue University of Education stated that the university has not yet received applications or entrance exam fees for the 2024 admissions period. Announcements regarding the registration and entrance exam schedule for the early childhood education and music education programs are publicly and officially posted on the university's website.
"The deadline for submitting admission applications is April 1st, not April 1st as some publications claim. Currently, the university has received about three complaints from candidates regarding this impersonation and fraud and has forwarded the information to the police," a representative from Hue University of Education said.
