The downward trend in pork prices throughout the past month is due to a more abundant supply and slower market demand.
Pork prices have cooled down due to decreased consumption.
Pork prices continue to cool down compared to the previous week. Specifically, the price of live pigs sold at farms by individual farmers ranges from 62-66 thousand VND/kg, a decrease of about 3 thousand VND/kg compared to the previous week. The price of live pigs supplied to the market by large companies is 68 thousand VND/kg, a decrease of 1 thousand VND/kg compared to the previous week. This price is also down about 5 thousand VND/kg compared to the previous month.
According to information from the Dong Nai Provincial Livestock Association, on July 16th, the total number of live pigs delivered to slaughterhouses in Ho Chi Minh City was approximately 5,600, while the total number of pigs sold at wholesale markets in the city was over 5,100. A large number of live pigs remain at slaughterhouses due to slower consumption at wholesale markets.
As of the end of June, the total pig population in the province reached over 4.1 million. Livestock farming in the province remains stable, and disease outbreaks are under control.
