Wall Street analysts predict Apple will raise prices on some of its next-generation iPhone models, expected to launch in September, to offset rising tariff costs. In a report published on July 31st, analysts at investment bank Jefferies stated that the price of some iPhone 17 models could increase by $50 , or 4-5%, compared to current versions.
This price increase appears to apply to high-end models such as the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and the new ultra-thin iPhone model, while the standard version is likely to retain its price. As of now, the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,199 .
Jefferies Bank estimates that approximately 40% of the iPhone 17s intended for the US market will be manufactured in China. If average production costs increase by $20-$25 due to tariffs, a $50 price increase may not be enough to fully offset the cost.
According to financial data released by Apple in its most recent investor meeting, the company expects to incur tariffs of up to $900 million in the second quarter of 2025. This is one of the main reasons why analysts believe the iPhone manufacturer will adjust the prices of its products in the near future.
Nevertheless, Jefferies Bank still gave a positive assessment of Apple's Q2 2025 business results, expected to be announced on August 1st (US time). According to the analysis team, the increased demand for iPhones in April and May was largely due to consumer concerns about rising prices. This was also the main factor supporting sales in the past quarter.
However, not all the data suggests optimism. UBS, another Wall Street financial institution, offered a more cautious assessment. According to them, the iPhone sales surge in April and May was short-lived and stalled in June. The firm predicts that demand for the iPhone 17 in September may decline slightly due to a combination of high prices and weak consumer demand.
Apple has not yet commented officially on the possibility of adjusting the prices of upcoming iPhone models.
