Following the floods, the downward trend in green vegetable prices is due to increased supply, especially for leafy vegetables. Observations in Hanoi show that the prices of many green vegetables have started to decrease by 20-30% compared to their peak in November. Kohlrabi is now priced at 12,000-17,000 VND/bulb, cauliflower at 20,000 VND/head, cabbage at 17,000 VND/kg; various types of mustard greens such as Chinese cabbage, chrysanthemum greens, and sweet cabbage range from 10,000-12,000 VND/bunch... Only tomatoes remain at 60,000-70,000 VND/kg.
Many small traders said that although prices have dropped significantly, they have not yet returned to pre-storm levels, as supply has only partially recovered.
Furthermore, vegetable prices are unlikely to fall significantly in the short term because the supply has not fully recovered. In addition, traders are still collecting large quantities to transport to central provinces, meaning that the amount of vegetables available for consumption is not as abundant as usual.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, this year's heavy rains, floods, and storms have caused severe damage to the crop production sector. The Department has sent letters requesting associations and businesses in the crop production and plant protection sector to participate in supporting local authorities.
As a result, many businesses have contributed seeds and supplies. The Department will continue to provide timely information to localities to enable them to proactively manage production, especially to ensure the food supply for the Lunar New Year.
This year, heavy rains and storms have caused severe damage to the agricultural sector. In October and November 2025 alone, the total damaged area was relatively large, reaching 113,925 hectares, including: 14,700 hectares of rice, 39,663 hectares of vegetables, and 59,000 hectares of industrial and perennial crops. Typhoon No. 13 alone caused damage to approximately 55,300 hectares; the heavy rains and floods at the end of November caused damage to about 58,600 hectares.
The head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection said that the Department will continue to provide timely information to localities to proactively manage production, especially to ensure the food supply for the Lunar New Year.
Simultaneously, closely monitor the production situation and implement remedial solutions, especially in the South Central region where the irrigation system has been severely damaged. Compile the seed and material needs proposed by localities to continue supporting the restoration of production for the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop.
