After the flood, the trend of decreasing green vegetable prices is due to increased supply, especially leafy vegetables. Actual records in Hanoi show that the prices of many green vegetables have started to decrease by 20-30% compared to the peak time in November. Kohlrabi is 12,000-17,000 VND/head, white cauliflower is 20,000 VND/plant, cabbage is 17,000 VND/kg; types of cabbage such as apricot cabbage, chrysanthemum cabbage, sweet cabbage fluctuates at 10,000-12,000 VND/bunch... Tomatoes alone remain at 60,000-70,000 VND/kg.
Many traders said that although prices have dropped significantly, they have not yet returned to pre-storm levels, as supply has only partially recovered.
In addition, vegetable prices are unlikely to fall sharply in the short term, as supply has not yet fully recovered. In addition, traders are still collecting a lot to bring to the central provinces, causing the amount of vegetables consumed not to be as abundant as usual.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, this year, floods and storms have caused heavy damage to the crop production industry. The Department has sent a letter asking associations and businesses in the field of crop production and plant protection to participate in supporting the locality.
Many businesses have contributed seeds and materials. The Department will continue to provide timely information to localities to proactively produce, especially to ensure food supply for the Lunar New Year.
This year, floods and storms have caused severe damage to the crop sector. In October and November 2025 alone, the total damaged area was relatively large, up to 113,925 hectares, including: 14,700 hectares of rice, 39,663 hectares of vegetables, 59,000 hectares of industrial crops and perennial trees. Storm No. 13 alone caused damage of about 55,300 hectares; the floods at the end of November caused damage of about 58,600 hectares.
The leader of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection said that the Department will continue to promptly inform localities to proactively produce, especially to ensure food supply for the Lunar New Year.
At the same time, closely monitor the production situation and deploy remedial solutions, especially in the South Central region where the irrigation system is severely damaged. Synthesize the demand for seeds and materials proposed by localities to continue supporting the recovery of winter-spring crop production in 2025-2026.
