After plummeting to below 25,000 VND/USD for buying at the end of last week, the USD price on the free market has tended to recover since the middle of this week.
Notably, after a few sessions of slight increases, the free market USD price today saw a sharp upward adjustment.
Foreign exchange bureaus in the free market today are trading USD at a common rate of 25,110-25,210 VND/USD (buying - selling). Compared to the previous session, the free market USD price has increased by 110 VND in both buying and selling rates.
Despite the rapid increase, compared to the peak of 25,950-26,030 VND/USD (buying - selling) set on June 27th, the free market USD price is still 840 VND lower on the buying side and 820 VND cheaper on the selling side.

The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the US Dollar, announced by the State Bank of Vietnam on September 27th, is 24,118 VND per USD, an increase of 13 VND compared to yesterday's rate.
Applying a 5% margin, commercial banks are allowed to trade today at a ceiling exchange rate of 25,324 VND/USD and a floor exchange rate of 22,912 VND/USD.
The State Bank of Vietnam's exchange rate for USD reference increased by 13 dong compared to the previous session, reaching 25,273 dong/USD. Meanwhile, the reference rate for USD buying remained at 23,400 dong/USD.
Meanwhile, the USD exchange rate at many commercial banks has been slightly adjusted downwards.
Specifically, early this afternoon, Vietcombank listed the cash USD exchange rate at 24,390 VND/USD for buying and 24,760 VND/USD for selling, a decrease of 30 VND in both buying and selling rates compared to yesterday morning (September 26).
Similarly, VietinBank also lowered the buying and selling price of USD to 24,431-24,771 VND/USD, a decrease of 29 VND in both directions compared to yesterday morning.
In the private joint-stock commercial banking sector, many banks also adjusted the exchange rate of the US dollar downwards this afternoon.
Techcombank is buying cash USD at 24,417 VND/USD and selling at 24,808 VND/USD, a decrease of 11 VND in the buying rate and 16 VND in the selling rate compared to yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, Sacombank listed the USD exchange rate at 24,430-24,790 VND/USD (buying - selling), a decrease of 10 VND in both buying and selling rates compared to yesterday morning.
The buying price of USD at banks is currently about 700 VND lower, while the selling price is 400 VND lower than in the free market.
On the global market, the USD is trending upwards. The US Dollar Index (measuring the fluctuations of the greenback against six major currencies) was at 100.7 points at 2:43 PM on September 27th (Vietnam time), up 0.17% from the previous session.
