At the meeting, Ms. Do Nguyen Hoang Dung, Acting Editor-in-Chief of Ba Ria- Vung Tau Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that the 24th Ba Ria-Vung Tau Newspaper Cross-Country Race in 2023 is an event celebrating the 32nd anniversary of the founding of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (August 12, 1991 - August 12, 2023); the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2nd); and the 43rd anniversary of the traditional day of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Newspaper (September 10, 1980 - September 10, 2023). The race is organized by Ba Ria-Vung Tau Newspaper in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports.

The Ba Ria - Vung Tau Newspaper Cross-Country Race, a regional event in the Southeast region, is a positive step in preparing athletes for the national-level cross-country race. It contributes to the strong and comprehensive development of the sports and physical education movement in the provinces and cities of the Southeast region. The race also helps to showcase the tourism and investment potential of Ba Ria - Vung Tau to domestic and international tourists.
According to Ms. Do Nguyen Hoang Dung, 2,460 athletes have registered for the 3km, 5km, 10km, and 21km distances so far. Of these, 860 athletes have registered to compete in the 10km and 21km (half-BIB) races. Along with the accompanying runners, the 24th Vung Tau Cross-Country Race is expected to be a running festival in the coastal city of Vung Tau, attracting over 3,000 participants.
This year, the Cross-Country Race includes an additional 21km distance, but with the use of chip-based scoring. Representatives from the judging panel stated that they will ensure maximum accuracy in scoring. Security personnel will be present to ensure the safety of athletes starting early in the 21km race.
Alongside the exciting athletic competition, there will be a fashion and music show featuring Si Luan, Quoc Dai, the Nhat Nguyet group, and DJ BNUST. Designer Viet Hung will introduce his new fashion collection, with performances by many well-known models.
The 24th Cross-Country Race will officially open at 6:00 AM on August 26th in Vung Tau City.
