The AU and its partners have called for coordinated efforts to promote equitable and inclusive education in order to prevent violence in Africa.
With the theme “Ensuring the right to quality, equitable and inclusive education to break and halt the cycle of violence in Africa,” at a meeting held on the sidelines of the 44th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the AU and its partners called for coordinated efforts to promote equitable and inclusive education to prevent violence in Africa.
The meeting aimed to raise awareness of the central role of education in strengthening resilience, mitigating, and preventing factors leading to violent conflict in Africa. Delegates particularly emphasized the need for global education and peace education; proposing greater investment in agricultural development, poverty reduction, and the development of traditional education systems.
