Mobile offices
While in the past, people preferred the traditional way of drinking coffee, seeking a space to chat and relax with friends, nowadays, consumer needs, especially among young people, have changed.
Besides enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, many people also want to find a place where they can work, study, and be creative. Therefore, the trend of young people going to cafes to work is increasing, turning these places into "mobile offices".
Ms. Cao Thi Hoang Anh (born in 1999, residing in Ward 4, Tan An City, Long An Province) is a freelancer. She often works from home for tasks requiring a lot of paperwork and technological equipment to easily organize and avoid errors. In addition, she spends 2-3 hours each day at office cafes handling work via Google Drive, attending online meetings, and communicating with clients.
Ms. Hoang Anh shared: “I often go to cafes to change the atmosphere, concentrate better, get creative inspiration, and improve work efficiency. The cafe's ambiance with soft lighting and gentle music also helps me feel more relaxed and less stressed at work.”

Dang Thi Nhu Huynh (born in 2002, residing in Tan Khanh Ward , Tan An City) is currently a full-time employee for a media and entertainment company and also takes on other freelance jobs to supplement her income. Due to the nature of her work, which requires an open mind and creativity, Nhu Huynh usually spends about 2-3 afternoons (usually at lunchtime) a week working at a coffee shop.
“The coffee shop environment offers a more comfortable and flexible feel compared to a fixed office workspace. At a cost of 600,000-800,000 VND per month, I find it quite reasonable because my work efficiency increases, and as a result, my income is more stable. Working at a coffee shop sometimes also gives me the opportunity to meet people with similar interests or working in similar fields, thereby expanding my network and learning from their experiences,” Như Huỳnh shared.
Renovate your workspace.
The combination of spatial elements, drinks, food, and internet access has led young people to choose office-style coffee shops over other spaces such as traditional cafes, libraries, or working from home.
Ms. Tran Thi Bich Hanh (born in 1998, residing in Nam Dong Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi ) is currently a content editor for a well-known agency.
Depending on her workload and mood, Ms. Hanh usually spends one or more sessions a week at a coffee shop. “Working at an agency involves constant communication with colleagues and clients, so the workspace can sometimes be noisy. Usually, the company has dedicated workstations and meeting rooms for client communication and problem-solving. But occasionally, I want a change of environment to relieve stress and get the most out of my work. At those times, I often choose to go to a coffee shop,” Ms. Hanh explained her reason for choosing office coffee.
Outside of her office hours, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Hanh (Nam Dong Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi) chooses to go to office-style cafes to complete her work.
The nature of her work also requires Ms. Hanh to concentrate intensely, spending 1-2 hours reviewing and editing articles from collaborators. Going to a coffee shop helps her focus better, and allows her to communicate more freely with collaborators. Ms. Hanh usually chooses small, simply decorated cafes with customers mainly being office workers, students, and university students. "I also choose cafes where the prices of drinks range from 30,000 to 50,000 VND because it fits my budget," Ms. Hanh shared.
Mr. Nguyen Vo Gia Cat (owner of a well-known chain of coffee shops in Long An) said that his regular customers are usually people who come to work or students who come to study. Therefore, he focuses on creating a spacious environment with lots of greenery and playing soft instrumental music to help customers concentrate. Besides coffee, the menu also offers a variety of healthy dishes and pastries. In the future, he plans to design additional bookshelves to provide useful books for customers.
Office coffee shops not only provide a quiet and comfortable space for work but also serve as a place for people to connect and help young people balance their lives.
