In the days leading up to, during, and after the 2025 Lunar New Year, the demand for electricity, especially for production, daily life, and recreational activities in the province, increased significantly, putting pressure on electricity supply. Quang Ninh Power Company proactively developed plans and operational management strategies to ensure safe and continuous electricity supply, meeting the needs of socio-economic development and daily life for customers throughout the province.

Mr. Dang Thanh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Power Company, said: Electricity supply in the province is currently favorable due to the completion and commissioning of 21 overload prevention projects. In particular, the 110kV Pha Lai - Cong Hoa line was commissioned in August 2024, and the 110kV Trang Bach - Cong Hoa line will be commissioned in November 2024. The company also put the 110kV Amata 2 line into operation and completed phase 4 of the 173 and 174 T500 Quang Ninh lines. These 110kV lines play a crucial role in improving the reliability of electricity supply and meeting the growing load demand of the province, especially in Ha Long City.

Besides the aforementioned advantages, the province's power grid management and operation also faced many difficulties when Typhoon No. 3 damaged a large part of the power grid system. Immediately after the basic damage from the typhoon was repaired, from October 2024 to the present, the Company has focused intensely on repairing and maintaining the power grid. To date, the Company has completed the construction of 78 items (reaching 100%), mainly focusing on repairing the 110kV and medium- and low-voltage power grids. At the same time, the Company also required all power companies to regularly update the operating parameters of all substations and proactively implement capacity upgrades, rotate transformers at risk of overload during peak hours, and carry out renovation, replacement, and increase the cross-sectional area of conductors at vulnerable locations on the low-voltage power grid. By the end of December 2024, the Company had constructed 45 new distribution substations; The project involved swapping and upgrading the capacity of 69 transformers; balancing phases and redistributing loads on low-voltage lines over 4,000 times; re-establishing on-site operational shifts at unmanned substations when necessary; and directing subordinate power companies to proactively coordinate with local authorities and relevant departments, as well as event and festival organizers, to promptly inspect and address any abnormalities in the power system after the meter.

Simultaneously, efforts were intensified to apply new technological solutions in operational management, such as: regularly using thermal imaging cameras and partial discharge measuring devices in inspections to detect and address potential incidents; and increasing repairs, connections, and insulation cleaning while power lines were still energized, with 1,460 insulation cleaning sessions conducted.

For key areas such as the Provincial Party Committee Headquarters, the Provincial People's Committee, local Party and People's Committee offices, police stations, military bases, the Provincial Communication Center, hospitals, water treatment plants, and locations hosting political , cultural, and artistic events celebrating the New Year, local power companies have assigned technical staff to manage and operate the power grid system 24/7 to receive information and handle any situations that may arise. These areas have also been equipped with a rational power source and grid operation method to ensure safety and reliability under normal conditions and flexible switching in case of emergencies. Local power companies have also conducted surveys and compiled statistics to develop specific and appropriate power supply plans for each area. Based on this, they have developed scenarios and prepared personnel, vehicles, and equipment to respond to each level of crisis. At the same time, a weekly grid maintenance plan is being drawn up and implemented, ensuring no power outages from January 25th to February 2nd, 2025 (i.e., from the 26th of the Lunar New Year to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), except in cases of emergencies.

With a determination to best meet the electricity needs of customers and drawing on experience in ensuring electricity supply for important provincial events, along with thorough preparation, Quang Ninh Power Company has now completed its electricity supply plan for the 2025 Lunar New Year, striving to successfully fulfill its assigned tasks to serve the people in celebrating a joyful, meaningful, and harmonious Tet holiday.
