From the art of singing Aday
Aday is a traditional folk art form in the Khmer ethnic community. It is a way of singing and responding between a couple, when it is a simile, sometimes a word of exchange, sending thoughts and feelings. Singing is often accompanied by dancing, with the meaning of praying for the well-being of phum and squirrels. However, a few years ago, only a few elderly people knew and this type was also absent from the stage and festival. Mr. Duong Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, shared: “Realizing that this type of business is very unique but in danger of disappearing, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has boldly decided to do so. proposed and developed a conservation and promotion project from 2016. Up to now, the project implementation period has been completed, but the promotion is still on that basis. Aday clubs in areas with a large number of Khmer ethnic people were established, both to create a playground and for those who have been trained in this type to pass on the profession to young people.
Along with creating conditions for artisans who have been trained from basic to advanced levels of this art form to have a place to live and ignite their passion to preserve the unique art form of the Khmer people, the Department Culture, Sports and Tourism also integrate and encourage localities to build Aday performances in annual competitions and festivals in the province, create conditions for Aday singers to participate in competitions, regional concerts. Artist Danh Ky, from Hamlet 4, Xa Phien Commune, Long My District, shared: “I was very happy when I learned how to dance and sing Aday. Now, I do my best to practice singing and dancing well to teach my children and grandchildren. I am also nearly 60 years old, so I am more active in participating so that I can contribute a little to preserving and promoting the beautiful art of my nation, which has been created by the local authorities to bring it back to life."
Going to the Ceremony of Offering
As one of the localities receiving the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021-2030 period, in the near future, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will implement project implementation plan 6: Preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in association with tourism development. With the goal of supporting, researching, restoring, preserving and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities at risk of extinction, Hau Giang chose to make a documentary film about the Offering Ceremony. Ca Sa (also known as Kathina robe offering ceremony, Cotton offering ceremony) of the Khmer ethnic group. This is one of the three major festivals of the year of the Khmer people: Traditional New Year Chol Chnam Thmay, Sene Dolta and Offering Ceremony.
The ceremony of offering the robes is the pride and the wish of each Khmer family and family, showing their respect and devotion to Buddhism. Documentary films will help people, especially Khmer people, understand more deeply the unique cultural beauty of their nation, to continue to preserve and promote.
In addition to the documentary film, in the implementation plan of this project, Hau Giang also focuses on building an Aday club at Mahameng Kolransay temple in Ward III, Vi Thanh city; supporting activities for the traditional performing teams of two ethnic boarding schools in the area and supporting and building 3 community bookcases in Xa Phien commune, Long My district, where there are a large number of Khmer ethnic people. live.
The interest, support and creation of conditions to preserve and promote the unique culture of the Khmer people by doing specific jobs, close to the actual needs, has, is and will contribute to the spread of the Khmer people. in preserving and promoting the unique culture of the Vietnamese people in general and the Khmer people in particular.
