People hold teachers in special esteem, considering the teaching profession as the foundation for building the nation's future. Learning from and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style today is the way to keep the flame alive for the noblest of professions.

Uncle Ho's words - a guiding light for teachers.

In Ho Chi Minh's thought, education was one of the strategically important endeavors, the key to the nation's future . He always affirmed: "There is no more glorious task than caring for and nurturing our children, the future masters of the country."

When President Ho Chi Minh identified education as the foundation of national development, he placed a special mission on teachers: to train and shape a new generation of people who are intelligent, moral, and ambitious to serve the people.

Speaking to teachers, students, and staff of Hanoi Pedagogical University on October 21, 1964, he emphasized: “A good teacher – a teacher worthy of being called a teacher – is the most glorious person. Even if their names are not published in newspapers and they do not receive medals, good teachers are unsung heroes.”

"Glorious" is not just a title for empty pride, but an affirmation of the pioneering role of each teacher in the noble task of nurturing future generations. A good teacher not only imparts knowledge but also instills in their students patriotism, a will to excel, compassion, and responsibility towards the community.

Good education is essential for the progress of our people, and the progress of our people leads to a strong nation. This serves as a reminder to today's educators that every lesson and every exemplary act of a teacher contributes to determining the quality of Vietnamese people in the future.

Ethics and love for the profession - the source that keeps the flame alive for teachers.

Ho Chi Minh always considered morality to be the foundation of a revolutionary and even more so of a teacher. In many of his writings, he affirmed: "Teaching, like learning, must focus on both talent and virtue." Talent helps teachers to teach well, while virtue helps them become role models – a silent but enduring source of inspiration.

For Uncle Ho, love for students was the building block of a teacher's character. He wrote: "For the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people. We must train good citizens and good cadres for the country. The people, the Party, and the Government entrust the task of training the future generation to you. This is a heavy but very glorious responsibility. I hope everyone will strive to fulfill this duty."

Nurturing people is a lifelong endeavor that demands patience, tolerance, and understanding. That is why the Leader required teachers to be "dedicated," "persistent," and "not afraid of hardship."

In the current educational landscape, teachers face numerous pressures: curriculum reform, digital transformation requirements, pressure for achievement, economic pressures, and more. In many places, teachers have to cross mountains and streams to reach their students. It is precisely during these difficult times that President Ho Chi Minh's words become a source of strength: upholding ethics, maintaining love for the profession, and maintaining faith in the noble cause of educating future generations.

Someone once advised: "Talent without virtue is a failure. How can you teach if you only have virtue but are ignorant? Virtue must come before talent. First and foremost, we must teach children to love their country, love labor, love their fellow citizens, and love socialism." This is the yardstick by which teachers can self-reflect, and for the education sector to self-correct and combat all negative manifestations that tarnish the image of teachers – from formalistic teaching methods and chasing after achievements to indifferent and irresponsible attitudes.

Igniting the ideal of "nurturing human potential" - building a clean and strong education system.

To sustain the passion for teaching, not only teachers but the entire education sector must resolutely implement President Ho Chi Minh's teachings: "Education must serve the political line of the Party and the Government, closely linked to production and the lives of the people. Learning must go hand in hand with practice, and theory must be connected to reality." This requires integrity in the educational environment, exemplary conduct from teachers, and the collaboration of family, school, and society.

In his letters to the education sector, especially the 1968 letter, President Ho Chi Minh clearly pointed out the need to combat the obsession with achievements and the mechanical, formalistic teaching methods. He demanded a reform of teaching methods, an improvement in the quality of teaching and learning, and the avoidance of education becoming a place for chasing grades. This is the fighting spirit in education, a fight against anything that hinders the quality of human beings.

Today, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style is an opportunity for every teacher to renew themselves – innovating methods, honing digital skills, improving professional competence, and, more importantly, continuously cultivating professional ethics. When teachers set a shining example, the school will become a trustworthy environment; when each classroom is a cell of culture , the education system will become clean and strong from its roots.

Uncle Ho's ideal of "nurturing human resources" is still being continued every day. With their love for the profession, responsibility, and ethics, today's teachers are the ones keeping the flame for the nation's future alive – a flame that originates from the teachings of our national leader.

Keeping the flame of the teaching profession alive, as taught by President Ho Chi Minh, is not only a way to express gratitude to him on November 20th, but also a guiding principle for building a humane, modern, clean, and strong-willed Vietnamese education system. President Ho Chi Minh's teachings are a guiding light, a benchmark for each teacher to self-reflect and correct, so that the noble cause of nurturing future generations will forever burn brightly in the hearts of those who sow the seeds of knowledge .
