These days, traveling along the road connecting National Highway 4B with National Highway 18 (formerly Dinh Lap district), no one would recognize the narrow, bumpy, and uneven path of the past. Instead, there is a wide road with an asphalt surface. This is one of three key projects that the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board has strived to complete on schedule before the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.
Mr. Trieu Vinh Quay, from Dong Quan village, Chau Son commune, said: "Before, the road into the village was just a narrow, steep path, making transportation extremely difficult. When the government started building the road, my family agreed to hand over the land for the contractor to begin construction. Now, with a new road and a new house, this year my family is celebrating the New Year with double the joy."
Along with the connecting road from National Highway 4B to National Highway 18, also in 2025, the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board will complete the investment in two other particularly difficult communes, including: the flood bypass road to the center of poor mountainous communes 30a: Dong Thang, Cuong Loi, Lam Ca (formerly Dinh Lap district) phase 2 with a length of 30.3 km and the Lung Vai - Binh Do - Tan Minh road project, 8 km long, section from Km 12 to Km 20, Provincial Road 229 (section passing through Quoc Viet and Khang Chien communes).
These routes all pass through remote and isolated communes, where the terrain is heavily fragmented, transportation infrastructure is particularly difficult, and the lives of the people are still fraught with hardship.
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc, residing in Keo Phay village, Quoc Viet commune, happily shared: "Before the road was built, traveling was dusty in the dry season and slippery in the rainy season, especially on the steep sections. But now that the government has built a new road, we are very happy because our children no longer have to worry about slipping and falling when going to school during the rainy season, and we can produce agricultural products without worrying about being exploited like before."
The completion of these three routes not only addresses immediate transportation needs but also has long-term strategic significance, as it opens up new inter-regional development opportunities and promotes trade between localities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Toai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh commune: The completion of the flood bypass road leading to the center of the poor mountainous communes of the former Dinh Lap district, passing through 5 villages of Thai Binh commune (formerly Lam Ca commune) with a total length of over 15km, has created a new development space for the commune, opening up opportunities for people to rise out of poverty and become rich on their own land.
Mr. Bui Hoang Nam, Director of the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, said: "Seeing the smiles of the people when they travel on the new road is the greatest reward for the team of officials and engineers like us who built the road."
These new roads not only bring spring to the villages but also carry faith and hope for a more prosperous and fulfilling future for the people in these disadvantaged areas. A new spring, a spring of connection and change, is truly beginning.
