Helping the people is a command from the heart.

Following the heavy rains and floods, considered the most severe in many years, the entire political system of Lam Dong province promptly responded to the Prime Minister's directives to mitigate the consequences and stabilize the lives of the people. Among the affected areas, D'Ran commune was one of the hardest hit.

Soldiers of the 5th Division (Military Region 7) are working to speed up the construction of houses for households in D'Ran commune ( Lam Dong province).

In the entire commune, 756 houses were damaged, including 15 that completely collapsed; many school buildings were affected and rendered unusable. More than 1,320 hectares of agricultural land and vegetable crops were flooded, causing people to lose their entire harvest. The total estimated damage is over 440 billion VND. Before the worries about property loss subsided, the people here continued to face concerns about their livelihoods after the floodwaters receded.

Sixty officers and soldiers from the 5th Division were assigned by the 7th Military Region Command to directly rebuild houses that were completely destroyed after the floods.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers and soldiers immediately deployed their work with the spirit of the "Quang Trung Campaign," swiftly rebuilding and repairing houses for affected families while ensuring safety and military discipline.

Officers and soldiers of the 5th Division cooperate in building houses for local people.

The force is organized into specialized teams including: foundation excavation, steel reinforcement erection, concrete mixing and pouring, and material transportation. Initially, the unit prioritizes assisting the two households most severely affected. Despite challenging construction conditions, fragmented site, and unpredictable weather, the officers and soldiers of the 5th Division continue to work tirelessly.

Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Son Mong, Deputy Commander of the 5th Division, who directly commanded the support force, shared: “Helping the people is a command from the heart. Therefore, for us, this is not only a duty but also a sentiment and a tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Army. Officers and soldiers always strive their best to help the people have new homes and stable lives as soon as possible.”

In addition to construction work, the unit also mobilized soldiers with welding and mechanical skills to carry out complex technical tasks, contributing to shortening the construction schedule.

Soldiers of the 5th Division are accelerating the construction of houses for the people.

Mr. Mai Ngoc Hiep, one of the households receiving assistance to rebuild his house, shared: “My house was completely swept away by the flood, and it seemed impossible to rebuild it in a short time. But the soldiers were there, working day and night. I am extremely grateful. Thanks to them, my family will soon have a decent roof over our heads again.”

Nguyen Van Huu, Secretary of the Party Committee of D'Ran commune, said: "The presence of officers and soldiers of the 5th Division is a great source of encouragement for the people of D'Ran commune. This is vivid evidence of the close bond between the military and the people, helping the locality to overcome the most difficult period."

These newly built houses, which are gradually taking shape, are not only shelters from the rain and sun, but also symbols of faith and hope after the floods. They also represent a beautiful and authentic image of soldiers in peacetime – always serving the people with all their hearts.
