CNN, citing a statement from the Texas Attorney General's Office, reported that in vehicle models from 2015 onwards, GM is accused of using technology to "collect, record, analyze, and transmit extremely detailed driving data about every time a driver uses their vehicle."
GM is the first automaker to be sued after the Texas Attorney General's Office launched an investigation in June into manufacturers allegedly collecting and selling large amounts of data illegally. GM said it has been in discussions with the Texas Attorney General's Office and is considering filing a complaint.
General Motors' headquarters are located in Detroit, Michigan (USA).
