Contributing to the transformation of villages and hamlets.

In 2013, Mr. Danh Mau (71 years old), residing in Duong Xuong hamlet, Long Thanh commune, was recognized as a respected figure among ethnic minority communities. One afternoon in Duong Xuong hamlet, along the 2.5-meter-wide concrete road, people were carrying freshly harvested rice home, students were cycling home after school, and the sounds of laughter filled the neighborhood. In previous years, this road was narrow and muddy during the rainy season, making travel difficult for residents. The changes we see today are thanks not only to the collective efforts of the people but also to the contributions of Mr. Danh Mau.

Recalling the road construction project, Mr. Mau said that initially, mobilizing people to contribute was not easy. Many households were hesitant because of the large cost, worried about the durability of the project, or thought that road construction was the responsibility of the State. To build trust, Mr. Mau's family voluntarily built the section of road in front of their house. Seeing the clean and beautiful road in front of his house, the people gradually responded, some contributing money, others contributing labor, and some donating land to widen the road for construction.

From 2013 to the present, Mr. Mau, along with the local government, has mobilized resources to build bridges and over 3km of concrete rural roads, with a total cost of nearly 500 million VND from social contributions. These new roads have made travel more convenient for people, facilitated the transportation of agricultural products, and ensured safer journeys for children to school.

Changes in Ea Mar village
Changes in Ea Mar villageBuôn Ea Mar, located in the border commune of Buôn Đôn, is a purely agricultural area. The land here is barren and rocky, and for generations, the people have relied solely on rice, corn, and cassava for their livelihood.

Mr. Lam Thanh Thon (48 years old), residing in Duong Xuong hamlet, said: “Before, whenever it rained, people had difficulty traveling because the road was narrow and muddy, and trucks carrying rice sometimes got stuck. Now that there is a spacious concrete road, the people are very happy. Seeing that this is a useful project, I contributed my efforts and also encouraged my relatives to participate.”

Besides campaigning for road construction, Mr. Danh Mau regularly mediated conflicts among the people. From 2013 to 2020, he and his mediation team resolved approximately 25 cases involving family disputes and minor neighborhood conflicts. Some involved drunken troublemakers, others a domestic dispute; many people hesitated to intervene, but he persistently went to the scene to advise, analyze right and wrong, and maintain harmony in the community. Mr. Mau confided: “In mediation work, people sometimes say harsh things, but I always patiently listen and find ways to resolve the issues. Despite facing many difficulties, I feel happy when I can help people.”

Thanks to Mr. Mau's perseverance and the efforts of the authorities, security and order in the hamlet have become increasingly stable. From 2021 to the present, the number of conflicts among the people has decreased significantly. According to Mr. Kim Can, head of Duong Xuong hamlet, the hamlet currently has 557 households, including 143 Khmer households and 26 Hoa households. The people's lives mainly depend on agricultural production, hired labor, and small-scale trading. To date, the entire hamlet only has 2 poor households. Commenting on Mr. Danh Mau, Mr. Can said: "Mr. Mau actively participates in and mobilizes people and philanthropists to contribute funds to build bridges and roads, maintaining community spirit and neighborly relations. He voluntarily provided land for the local government to build houses for disadvantaged households, helping people have stable housing and feel secure in their work to improve their lives."

According to Tran Quoc Ninh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Thanh commune, the commune has over 8,000 households and more than 36,000 people, including 21 influential individuals. This is a crucial force in disseminating information and mobilizing the people to comply with the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, building new rural areas, maintaining national unity, and ensuring security and order at the grassroots level.

Through simple yet practical actions, respected individuals like Mr. Danh Mau contribute to fostering the people's trust in the Party committee and government; at the same time, creating a foundation for Long Thanh to continue its sustainable and compassionate development.
